To want a beecosystem?

Would you have one? I love bees. I'm just wondering about the practicalities of it and if it's a good idea. I guess this may be mainly an American thing but I could fairly easily have one made...

Honeybees are classed as livestock and you have to register with the national bee unit (the government unit which monitors honeybees and bee keeping) and follow certain best practices.

Beekeeping can be an amazing hobby but there is a lot more to it than just shoving a beehive on the side of your house and letting them get on with it!

We had a full on hive in our chimney and roof spaces. The only solution was to with kill them or dismantle the chimney. So we lived with them.

From April to October (ish) we would have 200 bees a day in our sitting room. Most of them died. I think they were the newly hatched bees. We would sweep up and put them out. Incredibly tame and non agressive. Never stung and we had them for years.

But not ideal.

One year some damage to the structure must happened because we had honey pouring down the stairs, through the door jambs, through the mezzanine ceilings etc. Delicious but messy.

We eventually sold the house. Don't know what happened then.
