Haven hideaway holiday

I am currently on a Haven hideaway holiday AIBU to be shocked at how many people are here on site? I have honestly never seen a haven camp as busy and ive been on many over the years. Every caravan seems to be occupied and it is impossible to social distance with thousands of people everywhere,it's one of the larger haven sites and I've not seen one single person wearing a face mask and I've been here since Saturday . I know haven need to make their money back after being closed for months but I cannot believe how many people they've allowed on site I expected a nice quiet time here it's definitely no hideaway. They'll definatley be a second wave of covid if all holiday camps in UK are like this.

Are the shared facilities open?

ElizabethMainwaring · 18/08/2020 05:06

Just in time for everyone to go back to school.
Smashing.

ghds · 18/08/2020 05:18

yes everything open on site as usual arcade cram packed, bar open although no live entertainment just pre recorded entertainment although there is bingo and quizzes etc still on. Absolutely no social distancing taking place whatsoever. I didn't expect this and I am truly shocked at haven being so irresponsible.

Oh Lord. That is scary.

I don’t understand this. All shops have an incredibly low capacity. The number allowed inside at any one time is shown at the entrance.

Don’t leisure and entertainment facilities have legally mandated maximum numbers allowed inside at any given time?

Teacher12345 · 18/08/2020 05:48

@Mummyoflittledragon They do but who is checking?

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/08/2020 05:55

Teacher - very true. Hmmm. Seems I’m too honest for my own good. It wouldn’t occur to me to cheat the system. 😂

Lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 18/08/2020 06:02

I can well believe this. I was in Weymouth a few weeks ago and gave the teen DCs a tenner for the arcades. I couldn't believe how different it was when I went to find them. Absolutely packed, not one mask (strange given the rules for shops and other inside spaces) and zero SD.

The only evidence I could see of any measures were a few sanitizer statins but frankly the place is full of kids pressing buttons and trying to win those ridiculous tickets and money that no one gave them a second look. It was like we were in a parallel universe. I am surprised that a large and well know company like Haven aren't taking greater measures though.

I went to the Apple store in central London the other day and it was the polar opposite. Temperature check, enforced sanitiser, clearly marked out footprints etc. I know they are 2 v different organisations but a v stark contrast to each other.

My sister has just been to a haven park and was very impressed with how well it was done.

Have you raised your issues with the park? Are you avoiding the busy areas yourself?

It does seem often part of the issue is people are quick to complain that others are doing it wrong while they are in the environment too. Sometimes you need to vote with your feet and change your plans to somewhere quieter.

violetmartini · 18/08/2020 06:11

We are at a Park Dean resort and it's the opposite. Very quiet despite being a large site. Arcades are closed and no evening entertainment. Track and trace is being carried out in the restaurant and people are queuing sensibly. It's all rather civilised!

Orchidflower1 · 18/08/2020 06:18

www.haven.com/about-us/

If you scroll down here you can find how to complain.

Avoid the busy areas, wear your mask, use your caravan as your holiday place rather than the amusements ( which are grim at the best of times), don’t go to the club house. Take photos if it’s safe to do so and complain. Sorry your holiday has been ruined.
Not much help now but we’ve found haven is becoming more like its sister company but butlins. Park dean are smaller and quieter imho.

Studentnurse92 · 18/08/2020 07:19

We had the total opposite experience to this. We went to haven several weeks ago and everyone wore a mask especially inside and security was enforcing it. Only a limited number in the shop. Pool was open but only for ore booking for limited numbers although we didn’t use it. We were impressed.

KeyWorker · 18/08/2020 07:27

You can’t complain that you went on holiday and there were other people on holiday! Obviously masks should be worn indoors but you don’t have grounds to complain. Is the pool open?

MiniCooperLover · 18/08/2020 09:10

I agree KeyWorker, it's a bit ironic to complain about a park being busy when you're there adding to the busyness of it all. It's not great it's so busy it masks aren't being worn but if you want to be there you can only do your fit.

I think that's a tad unfair. Op expected (quite rightly) that Haven would follow the law to the letter. I know that I would. I'm sure that she wouldn't have gone if she knew what it was going to be like. It's appalling that we cannot trust even big companies to follow the rules. This country is proving to be a disgrace.
Chosennone · 18/08/2020 09:16

We've just left one in Wales. Very quiet, the shop and pub very strict on social distancing. Never seen one as quiet!

ElizabethMainwaring · 18/08/2020 09:22

Whereabouts are you @ghds?

wizzbangfizz · 18/08/2020 09:23

I've just come back from a campsite we go too yearly - never seen it so jam packed tents everywhere and the town it was near no social distancing either. Arcades jam packed (I didn't let DC in) it is worrying and I'm fairly relaxed about the virus overall.

BalanceGreen · 18/08/2020 09:25

We went past a popular campsite recently and the tents were rammed in - much more than I would have been happy with under normal circumstances, let alone now. Dread to think what showers were like.
