To think that the government did this on purpose

The A level results fiasco seemed to penalise bright children from disadvantaged schools. Aibu to think the government knew that this would happen but saw it as acceptable ?

We have an incompetent and self-serving government.

Even if they did not purposely mean to penalise the poorest pupils, the fact that they just seem to mess up everything they touch means the most vulnerable/the poorest unfortunately always end up paying the higher price...

What did people expect though when they voted Boris in? Now you see the reality of voting for a lying, lazy, entitled man....a complete shamble.

Not done on purpose. But the U-turn coming just a matter of hours after the universities had gone through 4 or 5 days of clearing was...interesting.
Many students had initially not received the grades for the courses they had been offered at the places they wanted to go. Most universities will be staking far more on their clearing places now than any year previously to keep courses afloat, due to the fact that they will probably lose more international applicants this October. Students spend some time being devastated, then ring round for clearing places and receive an offer somewhere else, maybe in a different course area (but could they really have their hearts in it?) Just at the end of this comes the U-turn on results. Universities, and 2020 students, back to square 1 with added stresses.

Are you suggesting that Nicola Sturgeon's capable government did mean to penalise the poorest pupils in Scotland (so they wouldn't have to pay their free tuition fees)?

"The Scottish Qualifications Agency (SQA) rejected nearly 124,000 recommended grades from teachers using computer models after pupils were unable to sit exams due to coronavirus."

"Pass rates for pupils in the most deprived areas were reduced by 15.2% in comparison with 6.9% for pupils from the wealthiest backgrounds."

Rufus that CAG you were told in March may not even be the CAG that was sent off at the end of May

That dd was told

But I absolutely take you point

It’s certainly the cag she has now...but as you say that’s probably down to luck as it will have gone through a fair few modernization processes within the college

Hers may also be slightly different down to whether or not there was completed coursework or practicals
