4-year old waking in the night

My 4 year-old son usually sleeps all night but currently has a cough and given the hot weather, has been waking in the night.

He just woke crying at 1am. My DP went into his bedroom first, shouting, 'what's wrong!!!!!'

I followed next, with a soft, 'are you ok?' giving him a cuddle and holding his hand. Aibu to think that a 4-year old waking in the night might be having nightmares or similar and shouldn't be met with being shouted at!?

Is it necessary for you both to be storming into his room when he cries? As he’s 4 you could just encourage him to switch the nightlight on and play if he’s scared.

Did he say WHAT IS WRONG 😤😲😠
Or did he say WHAT IS WRONG 😰😰

He might have just gotten spooked by the sudden awakening ☺

What was wrong?

He was having nightmares. DP angry that he had been woken up. Isn't this just part of parenting?

I only went in because DP was angry. If he had been comforting, I would have left him to it
