I have no sympathy for the husband or new wife.

Did they warrant her shooting them dead whilst they were sleeping?

RiteAid · 17/08/2020 21:59

She literally murdered them in cold blood, months after the end of her marriage. Her ex-husband sounds like a terrible bastard who treated her very badly, but it’s pretty hard to find any kind of justification for premeditated murder don’t you think?

yoyo1234 · 17/08/2020 22:02

I wasn't happy with a lot of the conversations she had with her children ( if some were from real transcripts- I assume the Netflix series had brought on this post). I do not think many people across as likeable. Do not think ex husband and new wife deserved to die.

LemonSqueezy0 · 17/08/2020 22:03

Have you read or watched anything other than the new Netflix show?

I definitely felt sympathy for BB but she murdered two people, and destroyed the lives of their children.

yoyo1234 · 17/08/2020 22:03

"came across"

yawnsvillex · 17/08/2020 22:03

She was OBSESSED with her ex H and Linda ....

She shot them both while they slept, she even pulled the phone out of the socket so they couldn't call for help.

Personally I think you are wrong OP. Each to their own thou.

Even her own children have said she should not be released from jail.

AgnesNaismith · 17/08/2020 22:07

I can see how she got there and why she did it, the justice system has a lot to answer for....... but none of that can excuse murder.

TaleOfTheContinents · 17/08/2020 22:20

I thought that the Netflix documentary was very biased and clearly sided with her. I didn't like that because it veers very close to condoning murder, and I don't think there's ever a good excuse for it. Many women (and men) the world over are cheated on, divorced, left penniless or worse and move on without pulling a gun on their ex.

I felt very sorry for her - it sounded horrific - but the way she harassed/trespassed/called her ex for years on end can't have been easy for him either. And he was paying her a $16,000 monthly stipend - not what she should have got, but she was hardly left homeless.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/08/2020 22:33

I was confused so I did a little bit of digging and I read an article earlier about the actual children. The children’s names have been changed in the film - I imagine to protect them.

The one child, who sided with her after the divorce was cut out of her father’s will. This really tells us a lot about what kind of man Daniel Broderick was. I appreciate the documentary was biased but Betty was put through a lot. And she cracked.

Mookie81 · 17/08/2020 22:39

The new wife didn't deserve it, but he did.

middleager · 17/08/2020 23:04

He fucked with her, financially and emotionally abused her, drove her insane, but this does not justify double murder.

She needed support for her mental health. Those poor children went through so much.

It is all so tragically sad.
