AIBU or is it a bit gross to eat your food off a fork, dip the fork into something like salsa and then put the salsa in the fridge?

It's just my DH so I wouldn't really mind eating food off the same fork but the idea of it being licked, then dipped back into a jar and then that jar going back in the fridge to be used over next week or so seems a bit gross

I literally just said oh could you use a clean fork and he asked why and did an exaggerated sigh and closed his eyes as if to say he was struggling to be patient with me

I don't think it's that unreasonable, normally I just get a teaspoon out for it specifically but none were clean

Equally I don't think its a ginormous deal really, just find it a bit gross (I am pregnant and most things seem gross to be honest)

I'm not a germaphone or anything even remotely like that either - we have various animals and a child and it's impossible to be really!

Definitely gross. Having lunch at a friend' - her mum took a spoonful of mayonnaise from a jar, licked the spoon and put it back in the jar. I nearly hurled Confused

I do actually think IAB more U for using the word "gross" three times when I don't think I've used it since being a teenager!

Wouldn't really bother me that much re sharing cutlery etc being gross. But I didn't realise until DH pointed out that if you don't get more mustard, jan etc with the knife you've cut your food with the condiments don't go mouldy!

It’s gross.

I’m not particularly squeamish and I share bodily fluids with DH frequently, but no double dipping is allowed in this house.

I certainly wouldn’t be wanting my friends mums bacteria in my mouth 🤢

Aside from the obvious distastefulness saliva is designed to break down food so avoiding saliva in food that's going to be stored for future use is advisable anyway

I live alone and only recently twigged it's why my milk seemed to go off so quickly (I'd a bad habit of swigging a few mouthfuls straight from carton while cooking i thought it'd be ok as it's just me but I figured it out and now I'm not a lazy arse and use a glassGrin)

Milk now lasts much better
