Animal Willy's

Idontknow23 · 17/08/2020 14:10

I will probably be outed as not many people would have such silly and annoying thoughts. I've always been a particular person and felt weird about eggs being periods or fetus and milk coming out of udders etc I've always been surprised that I'm not fussier with meat but put the thought out my mind and rudely rolled my eyes at vegans etc then just over a week ago i had this realisation that the animals we eat once walked round with willy's and that's it I've stopped eating meat it's completely put me off! Of course animals have willy's and I know we don't eat them but the thought of their slimey willy's has just put me completely off!! I want to want meat!! On holiday the meat is amazing I can't make the most of the 50% restaurant offers because who wants to go for a salad?! It's so restricting now!! I'm not pregnant. Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm feeling weird about milk in cheese etc but I've got to eat something else ill be surviving on thin air!! I don't like vegetables apart from peas so I'm getting limited on food, I've brought lentils etc. Has anyone had this before? I know I sound ridiculous but why have i gone off meat??!!! It's sad I used to love chicken and the thought if the taste I like but I feel like the social side of holidays, eating dinner at night and enjoying all food has been taken away because I don't want to pick the veggie option I don't even like veggies!!

@Sportsnight

It’s a little odd. Also the vast majority of the animals we eat didn’t have willies as you’re eating the female of the species. That’s true for beef, chicken, pork...
Incorrect. Beef is males. Females are used for reproduction and milk

It’s not unusual to go off meat.
I’ve recently given it up because I just can’t justify things about it anymore.
I’m happy to prepare it for my family, but I don’t eat it myself anymore.

picklemewalnuts · 17/08/2020 15:49

It might be better if people didn't come up with a list of disgusting thoughts about food.

Op is already very restrictive about what she eats. Adding our own grim worries really won't help her.

Nousernameforme · 17/08/2020 15:50

I would look into some counselling hypnosis etc based on intrusive thoughts. The thing with those is once you adapt your life to these new rules the thoughts change and you have another set of things you can't do and it just gets more and more restrictive. The only way out is to break the thought cycle and live how you want.

Namechangearoo · 17/08/2020 15:52

Are you called Jemma?! You sound just like a co-worker I used to have who thought it was DISGUSTING that I finished the last of one carton of milk in my tea and topped it up with a new carton because she didn’t like the idea of “milk from different cows mixing”. She genuinely thought that one carton contained milk from only one cow.

BlueJava · 17/08/2020 15:53

I don't think what you have said is that weird. I have phases where I go off certain foods completely but I let it happen naturally and don't dwell on it. Last year I went to the southern states for a business trip for a month and there was so much meat I went off it. When I came back I was off meat completely but after about 4 and a half months I felt I wanted some meat then eventually started eating it again.

TroysMammy · 17/08/2020 15:54

No willies in my homemade sausages.

derxa · 17/08/2020 15:57

A hen's egg is not a period. Birds don't have periods. Only mammals menstruate

Kaiserin · 17/08/2020 15:57

OP, at first I rolled my eyes reading your post, but then it occured to me...
Do you have lots of other phobias? And have you ever been assessed for things like autism?
I think you may have some kind of mental health condition. Your thoughts sound highly unusual. It doesn't mean you're a bad person, or something is "wrong" with you as a person, but if these thoughts are causing you distress (e.g. "I can't eat anything anymore!"), medical professionals may be able to help.

I agree (with another poster who mentioned it) that CBT may be a good idea. This form of therapy allows to deal with all kind of unusual thoughts, by filtering out the distressing part that prevents people to function. You don't need to take any medication, or change your personality, it's just a set of mental tools to take a step back, a rethink your thoughts.

Dahlietta · 17/08/2020 15:58

Interesting though that someone said the 3rd reason on the list for being a veggie was thinking of willies unless that was just an absolute mick take out of me haha

Sorry, dude, that was me, and I can confirm that I was taking the mick 😂. I have nothing helpful to say.... I hope you sort it out though. That food you’re missing out on sounds good!

MaskingForIt · 17/08/2020 16:04

@MilerVino

Eggs are not periods. I do wish people would stop saying that.
Agree. Likewise, there is 0 % puss in milk, unless you are dunking your cat in it. There is, however, a certain % of pus.
jessstan2 · 17/08/2020 16:06

If you're a beef eater it will have had a willy but no balls.
Why are you worried, we don't generally eat eyes but all animals and poultry have them.

What makes you think their willies are slimey anyway?

Hens do not menstruate and the eggs we eat are unfertilised so there is no embryo.

I grew up in the countryside. I've met animals I've gone on to eat. Don't think anything could put me off Halo

oakleaffy · 17/08/2020 16:10

I din't like touching wet door handles
This would make some good graffiti.

@Idontknow23 don't whatever you do consider eating ''Innkeeper Worm''...The look of them makes me heave, but a huge delicacy in some parts of world.

Happymum12345 · 17/08/2020 16:13

I love this sort of post on Mumsnet. It Makes me feel less bonkers than I actually am! I didn’t want a male dog because I couldn’t handle seeing a willy all the time.

BookWormBitch · 17/08/2020 16:15

People are joking, but it’s quite worrying that you’re cutting more and more healthy things from your diet. Please get some help for these phobias so your children don’t pick them up

My friend ended up in hospital after only eating plain noodles, crisps and chips for weeks. Her eating disorder started because someone said eggs were periods, so this hit a nerve!

MitziK · 17/08/2020 16:15

@ChewChewsBiscuitTin

I went off eating prawns for a bit when I realised they are basically just sea woodlice. I got over it though
If that happens again, try thinking of Woodlice as earthbound prawns?
DoormatBob · 17/08/2020 16:17

Surely salad is covered in wee and poo (manure, cats, dogs, flies), but it's ok because you rinse it in cold water? Or do you only buy that special salad that grows in sealed plastic bags, I'll stick to meat!

derxa · 17/08/2020 16:17

Incorrect. Beef is males. Females are used for reproduction and milk
It's more complicated than that.

Oh come on, she’s clearly suffering from unwelcome/intrusive thoughts. Don’t suggest more things to worry her!
oakleaffy · 17/08/2020 16:21

Re male dogs, Most rescue dogs are castrated, and very rarely show their ''lipstick''.
I do wonder if the aversion to male genitalia has a more sinister cause?

No biggie...Just get a female dog and eat fish instead.
`what put me off meat as a child was a book of Wildlife that had a section on Worms... Beef tapeworm and pork tapeworm..never mind the true story of a Russian Emigré who had a 70 yr old tapeworm from eating Sturgeon in pre-revolutionary Russia as a child,
They lived in harmony, but she kept losing weight.
She was cured of it..It did her no real harm.

AwkwardPaws27 · 17/08/2020 16:24

You can eat chicken, chickens don't have a willy.
They have a cloaca, which is nothing like a penis in appearance.
Also, if you want to eat other types of meat, try going for a recognisable cut - ie a leg of lamb is definitely not going to have a willy on it Wink
