Animal Willy's

I will probably be outed as not many people would have such silly and annoying thoughts. I've always been a particular person and felt weird about eggs being periods or fetus and milk coming out of udders etc I've always been surprised that I'm not fussier with meat but put the thought out my mind and rudely rolled my eyes at vegans etc then just over a week ago i had this realisation that the animals we eat once walked round with willy's and that's it I've stopped eating meat it's completely put me off! Of course animals have willy's and I know we don't eat them but the thought of their slimey willy's has just put me completely off!! I want to want meat!! On holiday the meat is amazing I can't make the most of the 50% restaurant offers because who wants to go for a salad?! It's so restricting now!! I'm not pregnant. Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm feeling weird about milk in cheese etc but I've got to eat something else ill be surviving on thin air!! I don't like vegetables apart from peas so I'm getting limited on food, I've brought lentils etc. Has anyone had this before? I know I sound ridiculous but why have i gone off meat??!!! It's sad I used to love chicken and the thought if the taste I like but I feel like the social side of holidays, eating dinner at night and enjoying all food has been taken away because I don't want to pick the veggie option I don't even like veggies!!

OP might you be pregnant?

I went off all sorts of things when I was pregnant - milk in tea, tomato sauces, oily sauces... It might make some weird associations.

I went off eating prawns for a bit when I realised they are basically just sea woodlice. I got over it though

Pringlemonster · 17/08/2020 15:14

Similar to how I ended up vegan
Once I knew an egg was a period ,never ate one again
Once I knew milk could have a certain level of puss in it ,never drank it again.
For meat ,what upset me was the thought of the animal being female ,don’t know why, just felt a bond ,or something rediculous
Anyway been vegan 5 years ,and don’t intend to go back .
I was vegetarian for a while

Pringlemonster · 17/08/2020 15:16

Fish as well I never ate, even being vegetarian,as I knew sewage was pumped out to sea ,that was enough to put me of that

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2020 15:18

I'll just leave this here ...

Well as a veggie you should eat fish whether it's in a dirty water or not👀
SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/08/2020 15:22

Shouldn't!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/08/2020 15:22

Also the vast majority of the animals we eat didn’t have willies as you’re eating the female of the species
Ah, but they have Fannies! Fannies, I tell ye!

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/08/2020 15:23

I wouldn't worry about a sudden turn to vegetarianism - nothing wrong with it! But your restrictive current diet isn't good for you. Read up a bit on some good vegetarian recipes; don't make yourself ill.

DeeTractor · 17/08/2020 15:24

....what the fuck

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/08/2020 15:24

CircleofWillis
Circleofwillies, surely?

WaltzfortheMars · 17/08/2020 15:26

Be a vegan. You can still have lovely tasty meals without feeling guilty being a omnivore.

Idontknow23 · 17/08/2020 15:28

Omg please whoever said milk can contain puss ffs! What am I ever gonna eat milk is in loads of things!! I don't actually drink milk I don't like it but I have yoghurt and cheese. I don't like tea, coffee, milk or water.

Oh and to the person who gave a spelling correction of willies, willy's, so what I do apologise, right now I'm more bothered about not being able to eat grilled chicken in Greece with lemon juice over it and pork chops from the grill and chicken bloody kebabs😂 it's not that it's meat it's just the black and white thoughts of it, which I once blocked out. Interesting though that someone said the 3rd reason on the list for being a veggie was thinking of willies unless that was just an absolute mick take out of me haha

I get it OP. I had a similar thing when I realized was eating muscles... Was veggie for years but tried to make myself more normal. Fairly unsuccessful and I have lots of thoughts about eating meat that 'normal' people don't think twice about.
An incident with an egg last week did it for me (left me shell shocked!) I was boaking for a few days after.
Lots of new nut roasts, roast veg and fresh houmous to look forward for me today- nothing that I will feel guilty about.

DowntonCrabby · 17/08/2020 15:30

Milk in the US can contain a certain level of puss. This is not (yet! no guarantees after Brexit) an issue in the UK but vegans do like to trot it out as a universal fact.
Enjoy your cheese OP.

MilerVino · 17/08/2020 15:33

Eggs are not periods. I do wish people would stop saying that.

DianasLasso · 17/08/2020 15:35

Unless of course they're birds in which case they have cloacas. Wink

OP, I'm trying to think of a gentle way of framing this - how you feel is not normal (which is fine, who the hell is normal, I've got an irrational hatred of prunes in any shape or form). But you are setting yourself up for a very, very restricted diet, and since you say in one of your early posts that you don't really like veggies either, I'd worry that you aren't going to get all the nutrients you need.

I honestly think you need to go to your GP about this, because it doesn't come across as a rational way of feeling about the world. I totally get feeling ick about things (the "100 cows in a burger" comment reminds me of a temping job I had where I had to look up the process of mechanically recovering meat from scraps of carcase - that sent me vegetarian for 15 years!) But your "ick" is so extreme I worry that you're going to end up not eating properly.

Possibly some sort of CBT to explore how you can divide up reasonable levels of "ick" from "I feel ick about so many things I can't feed myself properly any more". And strategies like buying from a butcher who sources directly from an organic farm with decent production standards, or if you do go vegan, learning how to put together recipes that you like eating and get all the nutrients you need from.

BTW, milk does not contain either piss or pus. Do not worry on that score. Please keep eating yoghurt. And talk to someone about this!

FlamingoAndJohn · 17/08/2020 15:38

Willy's what?

SquirtleSquad · 17/08/2020 15:39

Go vegan. How about starting with hummus, whole meal pitta strips and carrot and celery sticks? Dhal and brown rice with peas in it? Stir-fries with rice noodles and tofu/cashew nuts?

WaltzfortheMars · 17/08/2020 15:41

If you think like that, then surely you can't eat anything, can you? Plants do take nutrients from ground, can be a fertilizer, decomposed animal body, or faeces or whatever. Grin

MinorArcana · 17/08/2020 15:45

Have you tried cooking vegetables in different ways?

The taste and texture of them can vary a lot depending on how they’re prepared, you might find that you like roasted vegetables better than boiled vegetables or vice versa.

If you’re feeling unable to eat meat right now then it’s worthwhile trying different vegetables and different ways of preparing them to see if you can broaden your diet.
