I keep seeing things like sht, fck and c*nt.

This is MN, you are allowed to swear. I don’t see the point in writing f*ck as anyone reading it is just going to say the word fuck in their head and I can’t believe any MN poster is so damn sensitive that they will swoon if they see the word fuck written in full.

I’m not saying anyone has to swear but if you are going to include a swear word in your post then do it properly.

Fuck-knuckle is a favourite in the Canny household as is 'raging dickhead' and 'absolute shit-bastard', away from the DC of course.

Throckmorton · 17/08/2020 12:35

Cockwomble :)

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 17/08/2020 12:36

Fucking heck: my favourite concocted by my DF when he was on a rant and got muddled up Grin

thepeopleversuswork · 17/08/2020 12:38

I can't abide people being mealy-mouthed about swearing among adults and I don't trust people who disapprove of it.

Swearing is one of the great pressure valves and if you can't do it on a forum like this what is the point.

Foliageeverywhere122 · 17/08/2020 12:40

Mmm I do think like a lot of things on Mumsnet this is a class issue and is a little unkind.

Obviously there’s a always outliers, but middle class women, secure in not being ‘tacky’/‘common’ and confident in not being judged etc are a lot more comfortable dropping cunts and fucks all over the place

In my experience anyway Grin

Iknowthingsthatwillhappen · 17/08/2020 12:42

I hate the swearing tbh.

Port1aCastis · 17/08/2020 12:46

Fucknugget knobber descibes my exh nicely, class or being comfortable is utter bollocks as far as that despicable wassock wanker is concerned!

VinylDetective · 17/08/2020 12:46

I swear like a sailor at the best of times. I hate the mealy mouthed asterisks.

Morfin · 17/08/2020 12:46

The does irrationally annoy me, sometimes I might call someone daft instead of fucking stupid because the tone of the OP means that swearing would be unnecessary, I can see how using a makes it more polite.

Morfin · 17/08/2020 12:47

can't see

If you don’t want to swear then don’t. Just don’t pussy foot around with f*ck etc.

Skunt is my current favourite : Skank + Cunt = Skunt 😂

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 17/08/2020 12:50

I swear, both on here and in real life.
Over the years though, I've noticed the swearing on here has been used less and less because posters want to say they were having a fucking cunting day etc and more to be aggressive and mouthy to people they don't agree with.

"Can nobody on here fucking read"
Etc.
Which is just uncouth.

A swearword should be chosen carefully, inserted carefully and enjoyed! Not just used when your argument doesn't hold water which seems the case on here these days.

1Morewineplease · 17/08/2020 12:50

Arsewipe Tittytwat.
( Ah, that felt good!)

TwentyViginti · 17/08/2020 12:58

I used to greet a close colleague with "morning, Shagnasty"

No idea if she shagged nastily or not Grin

AhBallix · 17/08/2020 13:00

A well placed swear word can be funny. It can add emphasis to a point. It can express anger.

But sometimes ... there's just no fucking need for it.

And you can shove your asterisks right up your a*se!

Oldbagface · 17/08/2020 13:16

Nothing better than a good old swear to get this off your chest.

I really disagree with this. If anything the people who are most fastidious about swearing are upwardly-mobile middle class people who misguidedly worry that it will make them look common.

I think it has to do with having the intelligence and self-awareness to use swear words judiciously and in the right context.

Over-use at the drop of a hat can be a bit grim. But people who equate it with breeding are just not very bright in my experience.

SadSoVerySad · 17/08/2020 13:27

Am I the only person here who never ever lets a swear word, even the S word pass my lips?

The F word might be in my mind sometimes but I can't bring myself to utter it out loud. Can't even think, never mind say the S or C word.

I'm not a prude. I tolerate other people using swear words occasionally. However, I can't bear a constant potty mouth where every other word is a swear word.

CaptainCorellisPangolin · 17/08/2020 13:31

I recently heard a man in the queue next to me exclaim "Bollocking shitweasels". It made me grin so much- that is Avant Garde swearing.

thedancingbear · 17/08/2020 13:32

twat
arse

hauntedvagina · 17/08/2020 13:40

I think it was Ricky Gervais who said people who hate the c word would hear it a lot less if they didn't act like such cunts.

TwentyViginti · 17/08/2020 13:43

It's also interchangeable.

Shitting Bollockweasels.

Weaselling Shitbollocks.
