I keep seeing things like sht, fck and c*nt.

This is MN, you are allowed to swear. I don’t see the point in writing f*ck as anyone reading it is just going to say the word fuck in their head and I can’t believe any MN poster is so damn sensitive that they will swoon if they see the word fuck written in full.

I’m not saying anyone has to swear but if you are going to include a swear word in your post then do it properly.

@humidityhair

Never mind the swearing! I’ve just seen “inundated” typed as “in on dated” on another thread!!

Blush

Could that have been auto correct?

I live a good swear. I fee like I can express my feelings so much better.

amicissimma · 17/08/2020 16:03

On the other hand, it's not mandatory.

I don't swear. I would have to stop speaking/writing in order to think of a swear word as they don't come naturally. I don't particularly care if other people swear. I'm quite happy not letting it offend me and you might be happy not letting the use of asterisks offend you.

The only time I would use a swear word would be to quote someone else and as I don't use rude words I wouldn't type it all out any more than I would write the whole word beginning with n if I were quoting someone insulting a person of AfroCaribbean descent.

Feellikedancingyeah · 17/08/2020 16:05

I am extremely polite and never swear in real life. But am supremely fucked off with the current crappy situation

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 17/08/2020 16:05

You are not being fucking unreasonable. I cannot fucking stand the tweeness of f*%k. On some threads I’ve seen the swear word so disguised that I can’t fucking work out what the fuck it’s meant to be.

Personal pet peeve is bl&*dy. BLOODY??????? That’s not a fucking swear word.

Fucks sake.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2020 16:14

I hate any kind of fucking swearing Grin

ClementineWoolysocks · 17/08/2020 16:16

Person, man, woman, shit, fuck, cunt.

SaltyAndFresh · 17/08/2020 16:18

Mind your fucking manners.

DDemelza · 17/08/2020 16:39

What about the genuinely offensive terms, like Prs Mrgn?

FlamingoAndJohn · 17/08/2020 16:41

Well he is a cunt and should be referred to as such.
OP posts:
DDemelza · 17/08/2020 17:53

That he is. A walloping great unmitigated cunt.

@SaltyAndFresh

Mind your fucking manners.
Indeed. This is a fucking respectable website.
ViciousJackdaw · 17/08/2020 18:58

Using the word 'retard' as an insult is miles more offensive than a whole barrel of cuntyfucks anyway.

QueenArseClangers · 17/08/2020 19:06

@Orchidsindoors

I dont like swearing at people and dont think people should do it on here, theres no need. I also think if you have to swear, you are being aggressive and you've just lost whatever argument you were trying to make.
I’d rather see swearing on here than your lack of apostrophes, to be fucking honest.
Theimpossiblegirl · 17/08/2020 19:08

I've noticed a few people using duck and ducking lately. I hope it's just autocorrect but I've put a lot of effort into teaching my phone to swear. It kept changing fuck to duck, shit to shut and twat to test and has taken a lot of sweary texts to over ride.

thepeopleversuswork · 17/08/2020 19:10

DDemelza

Smile

That’s the best thing that’s happened to me today

PopcornAndWine · 17/08/2020 19:10

People who get very judgemental about swearing annoy me. If you don't swear, fine, good for you and if I know you find it offensive I won't swear around you, but please don't think it any way makes you morally superior.

Andylion · 17/08/2020 19:12

I post on several boards. Only on MN is it ok to type fuck. I rarely swear in a post but when I do I try to stay in the habit of typing f#$k so I don't post fuck on the other boards.

I also really like the look of @#$&* as it reminds of swearing in comic strips.

Anyone who does like my @##$* can't fuck right off.

thepeopleversuswork · 17/08/2020 19:15

Theimpossiblegirl

Many moons ago in the pre smartphone days the autocorrect used to change fuck to dual, for reasons I never understood.

My then flat mate was hung up on some useless bloke who used to booty call her. He had some dubious literary aspirations (he had written a book of erotic fiction or something), but she kidded herself that he was interested in her mind etc,

One night we were out and he texted her saying “fancy a dual”. She got all excited and was speculating that it meant some literary swordplay or such like.

Until one us worked out it was autocorrect for fuck Smile

Vodkacranberryplease · 17/08/2020 19:18

Fucking autocorrect. My phone is always doing it and it pisses me right off. Hate going back to re type as I'm not leaving ducking there.

AngelicInnocent · 17/08/2020 19:44

My DM (now in her 70s) rarely ever swore and if she was ever driven to it would exclaim "bugger" as if she was swearing vilely.

Imagine everyone's surprise when at about 65 she had reached the absolute end of her tether and turned to her boss saying "get the fuck out of my office you ignorant man, you are a complete and utter twat".

He was so shocked he did and the story was retold by her colleagues many times.

Quoting myself to say that there does seem to be problem with using asterisks instead. (I wondered for a second where the bold had come from.) 😁
PopcornAndWine · 17/08/2020 20:56

I assume we can all agree that men who have a problem with women swearing can fuck the fuck off to the far side of fucksville?

Throckmorton · 17/08/2020 22:50

Too fucking right they fucking can :)
