schoolsweek.co.uk/ofqual-removes-mock-exam-appeals-policy-just-hours-after-publication/

They are bouncing around like toddlers on speed and have not a fucking clue. Initially Gav said “mock grades”. Then Ofqual said “hmm. But maybe CAGs are better?) Now Ofqual have said “we’ll definitely release a statement”

I couldn’t be more ashamed of how our young people are being put through the ringer.

Completely agree with all of that. I’m swinging from being embarrassed to work in education right now because of the massive ineptitude that’s evident, to sheer rage at the conversations I’ve had with kids who are feeling bloody lost. If I had my way, the whole lot of them should resign, but I want them to hang around until after Thursday so they have to take responsibility for that shit show of a clusterfuck.

thecatsabsentcojones · 16/08/2020 18:51

I’m feeling huge sympathy for these kids. They’ve endured trying to be educated during a pandemic and now this utter clusterfuck in return. It’s unforgivable.

SmileEachDay · 16/08/2020 18:56

It’s just... Ofqual worked on this fucking algorithm in APRIL.

They knew then how unreliable it was in terms of making sure the right kid got the right grade. The absolute least they could’ve done is ensured a straightforward appeals process.

It’s a bloody mess Angry

MrsHamlet · 16/08/2020 18:57

There wasn't meant to be an appeals process, except against the school' methodology for the CAG. So they didn't need one.

colouringindoors · 16/08/2020 18:59

I've read many heartbreaking stories of young people whose futures have been destroyed by a bloody algorithm. Just when you think this Government couldn't get any worse Sad

Im still hoping for a U turn before Thursday

Interesting that someone thinks you’re unreasonable...having said that i pressed the wrong button once and didn’t realise you could change it back

SmileEachDay · 16/08/2020 19:06

Im still hoping for a U turn before Thursday

It needs to happen before Wednesday- that’s when colleges/sixth forms fill their places.

It’s such a total shambles.

It's a scandalous way to treat our young people. In March they were assured they wouldn't be disadvantaged.

Not all universities are being flexible, many of my ds's friends have missed both offers and are in limbo.

Told by universities to contact them only once grades have been appealed.

Appeal process not confirmed or ready.

I've contacted my MP. Almost certainly in vain but I thought it was important.

So many broken promises.

Right

I’ll change to hoping by Wednesday...didn’t think about the college thing
