I'm conscious I need to be more proactive about ensuring my DC are safe online, both in terms of what they choose to see and do, as well as what they might be unwittingly exposed to. As it stands, I only have restricted mode activated on YouTube, but don't use any apps to filter/monitor content, and really feel I should be.

I've heard about things like net nanny. Does anyone use this or something similar? Is there one app I can use for everything or do I need different apps for different features?

DS1 has his own iPod and my other two DC have their own Kindle fire tablets and occasionally use my old iPhone (without SIM). I'm looking for something that can cover all of these, and am pretty clueless at the moment (as is probably evident from this post!)

Internet providers have kids safe, i have talk talk. Dont trust your kids online, dont trust the Internet. Check what they are watching / searching for on phones, ipads, laptops. Could all be innocent but its the Web, its dark, its seedy, dont be naive. Talk to them, tell them its not all funny cats doing stupid things. Thats my advice.

And her clued up. Its not just porn. Tik tok for example is is rife with pro anorexia material. FBK has posts that are porn, twitter etc etc. Check private messages, WhatsApp messages. Start doing it whilst they're young and continue doing it.

Get clued up. Grooming happens at all ages. Be on top of the game and dont ne afraid to ask questions. My DC is only allowed friends she goes to school with on game sites, not even allowed the sister of a friend. Shes not allowed to engage in chat. If ahe does she's banned simple. Harsh maybe but i dont care. I tell her i dont want her taken from me by someone posing as a 13 year old girl
