Would you or your kids or teens lie on a bed with shoes on?

Just noticing in a lot of films and tv shows, people will fling themselves down onto the bed without kicking off their shoes. Sometimes to read, or talk on the phone, or stare moodily into space for a bit - so not just in complete exhaustion to sleep.

Admittedly I'm a fusspot who needs to take off bra and jeans and anything vaguely restricting in terms of clothing in order to relax properly and contentedly (either on the couch or the bed) but AIBU to reckon most people prefer to at least remove their shoes?

How is it comfortable otherwise?!

Absolutely not! Shoes off at the door and put in the shoe cupboard and certainly never upstairs in a bedroom.

Ishihtzuknot · 15/08/2020 21:59

We don’t wear shoes in the house, I find it uncomfortable so usually bare feet. In fact we live in nightwear when we’re home and only ever dress properly if we’re going out Blush I’ve always been laughed at for thinking it’s germy to see people on tv doing this Grin

Bluntness100 · 15/08/2020 22:03

No shoes off at the door. My daughter is quite anal about her bed and insists on clean feet before she gets in, as in go wash them. I don’t wear slippers or socks in the summer so my feet get a bit grubby and she constantly says “ seriously you need to wash your feet before you get into bed “ the thought of her wearing her shoes on the bed makes me chuckle.🤣

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 15/08/2020 22:11

I said this to my husband about TV shows the other day! I am a shoes off household but even if I wasn’t, no way would anyone’s grubby shoes be going on my soft furnishings. Just weird! I notice in mainly in American shows, is it cultural?

Procrastination4 · 15/08/2020 22:15

No way! My duvet covers are white or cream or ivory, and I want to keto them that way! Even if they were dark colours, I wouldn’t want grubby shoes on them.

Procrastination4 · 15/08/2020 22:15

Keep them.

TheCanyon · 15/08/2020 22:18

Now hold on @AbsentmindedWoman that's not fusspot material. That's absolutely sane in my mind. If the shoes are off, so is the bra and uncouth clothes. That's jammies time, my favourite time Grin

As to your question, I can't ever recall putting my shoes on the bed.

TheCanyon · 15/08/2020 22:19

ffs meant to bold not delete your comment Blush

Shedpaint · 15/08/2020 22:20

Don’t wear shoes in the house so would never get on the bed with shoes on.

I wouldn’t even wear worn socks in bed and I always always wash my feet when I come inside if I’ve been wearing sandals or just tights not socks.
I always shower before getting in to bed

Super clean here!

heymammy · 15/08/2020 22:20

Never ever ever ever ever! Neither me nor the kids wear shoes much past the front door.

Daftodil · 15/08/2020 22:21

Totally agree! It really bugs me when I see shoes on furniture on tv/in films.

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 15/08/2020 22:22

We don't wear shoes in the house.

Oryxx · 15/08/2020 22:22

No way! I won’t even lie on my bed if I’m wearing outdoor clothes.

Brokensunrise · 15/08/2020 22:23

I always think this!!! I nearly shout at the tv! They do it so casually...

Witchend · 15/08/2020 22:24

No, but I only wear shoes outside. Even at work I tend to leave my shoes under the desk.

Princessbanana · 15/08/2020 22:31

Was admitted to A&E one night, my mother was with me. I was in agony, couldn’t stand or lay down. Eventually they have me morphine and I was able to lay down. Mum very embarrassed in front of the doctor because I put my shoes on the bed, she asked me to take them off! the doctor laughed at her but she wasn’t joking. I had to take them off to keep her happy. But no, I usually don’t wear shoes on a bed or even allow shoes upstairs in my house as I have kids.

rosiejaune · 15/08/2020 22:34

My partner always wears shoes in the house (at some point he may change from work shoes into house shoes, but they still go outside), and sometimes lies on the bed with them. I think it is very weird.

I don't mind walking round the downstairs of my house in my shoes sometimes, but only if there is a reason to; if I am staying in I take them off and leave them in the hall.

Elieza · 15/08/2020 22:42

Slippers only in the house. Anything else is just disgusting.

maras2 · 15/08/2020 22:42

I've never even looked Blush
Good mother, crap house keeper.
Seriously if my kids made any mess from shoes, they would have been the first to clean it up ............. on penalty of the.......... DEATH STARE Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2020 22:44

Ooo never! My mum would have had a fit!

badacorn · 15/08/2020 22:46

I think you are going to open the “is it right to wear shoes in the house” can of worms with that question op Grin

Myself I would never wear shoes on the bed, it would feel weird.

whirlwindwallaby · 15/08/2020 22:51

We don't wear shoes in the house, and certainly never upstairs in the bedrooms!

sst1234 · 15/08/2020 22:56

No shoes in the house, never mind on the bed. It really sets my teeth on edge when I see people walking on carpet with their shoes on. Or even people walking on hard floors indoors with their shoes on and at the same time others walking on the same dirty l floor without shoes.

I cannot understand why anyone chooses to allow shoes in the house.

sst1234 · 15/08/2020 22:57

@Oryxx

No way! I won’t even lie on my bed if I’m wearing outdoor clothes.
Same here
CherryPavlova · 15/08/2020 22:58

Yes probably- phone rings as you’ve got upstairs after a long day, maybe.
We aren’t bothered about shoes at all. Better shod than splintered.
