To be loving bbc iplayer’s need to add more and more box sets

Custardtarte · 15/08/2020 21:00

I’m not sure if it’s because they’re it making regular programmes but iPlayer seems to be adding loads of box sets including Aussie ones. Loving it! Catching up on some I’ve seen before (but forgotten due to baby brain - it has its advantages!) and lots of new ones!

AIBU = iPlayer box sets are old and boring
AINBU = I also love the great and varied iPlayer programmes on offer

YANBU. Just watched Fort Salem on there. Total rubbish but I loved it.

KedsAndTubeSocks · 15/08/2020 21:24

I watched all 5 series of Line of Duty in 10 days! Loved it. Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/08/2020 21:26

Spooks! One of the best things I’ve ever watched, and we watch A LOT of tv. We’ve got a couple left of the last season and I’m already in preemptive mourning.

Line of Duty is also spectacular.

I’m after recommendations for stuff to fill the Spooks hole.

Ooh, also The Split. Completely different to the other two but I’m crazy in love with Nicola Walker - watch it!

cardibach · 15/08/2020 21:29

@DanielRicciardosSmile I’ve just dine Fort Salem too! Brilliantly crap! Hope there’s a second series sometime soon...
Keep meaning to watch Spooks.

qwertyuiop098 · 15/08/2020 21:31

Watch The A Word! So good

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/08/2020 21:40

Your life will never be the same again cardibach!

If you’re tempted to bail after the second episode, gird your loins and carry on. It’s utterly grim in places but worth it.

TheSpottedZebra · 15/08/2020 21:45

I've re-binged Line ofDuty, and Spooks recently ish too. Spooks excellent, but LoD some of the best tv I've ever seen.

At the other end of the spectrum I'm currently watching Harper's Island. It's shit, but good. It's about a load of people at a wedding, on an island. And lots are getting murdered. The murders are in varied/surprising ways, but not gory as you don't really see the blood not bodies. It's well dressed schlock basically.

Wasn't it just? I believe a second series has been confirmed - fingers crossed it comes to iPlayer again, I need to know what happens to them!

Quackersandcheese3 · 16/08/2020 10:38

We did line of duty at start of lockdown. What’s everyone’s recommendations? I enjoy crime drama, anything juicy occasionally trashy. Just watched harlots, do you think they’ll put the other seasons on too?

lokijet · 16/08/2020 10:42

Just finished LoD about to rewatch sherlock

Spooks a possibility and open to new ideas

Have watched with my son
Robin Hood
Merlin
Now on non bbc with him but open to other ideas (he is 10)

thedaywewillremeber · 16/08/2020 10:54

I know it’s not on bbc I player but it was a bbc program the fall on Netflix is very good.

Ghostlyglow · 16/08/2020 10:54

They've put The Bridge on! Best. TV. Series. Ever.

Custardtarte · 16/08/2020 20:22

Loved the Bridge...the danish/Swedish one though, not the American remake...
I have watched the split, 5 bedrooms, the slap, rewatched the missing and Baptiste, now rewatching Strike. Want to watch line of duty but I’m worried will get binge-watch obsession!

OP posts:
Ghostlyglow · 16/08/2020 20:25

It's the Swedish/Danish one @Custardtarte. I'm looking forward to watching it again.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 16/08/2020 20:39

I have re watched Ghosts... Luna Moon!!!!!!!!
Now watching LOD ....again

latticechaos · 16/08/2020 20:43

Just starting spooks again, do like a many-series drama.

PurpleDaisies · 16/08/2020 20:46

Excellent news about the Bridge.

I’m up to series 7 watching spooks again. I’d forgotten how many cast changes there were.

I was hoping Mistresses would go on. That was a guilty pleasure at uni.

Pascha · 16/08/2020 20:58

I loved Fort Salem, perfect shit escapist entertainment. I really want a second series. Off to see what else is on now.

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/08/2020 21:01

Spooks ( omg I love it , watched it when it first was on , and it is still the best thing ever )
Line of duty
Killing Eve
The split
State of happiness ( yes , I know , subtitles , but it's brilliant )
Twin
The last wave

Custardtarte · 16/08/2020 22:48

@Ghostlyglow ha, whoops, have done a bit of danish so that’s what stood out for me.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 16/08/2020 22:53

I'm gutted Fort Salem wasn't based on a book, it's just the trashy YA book I love as a guilty pleasure.

BBC boxsets are great, I also think it's because they're in competition with other streaming services.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 16/08/2020 22:54

We've been impatiently waiting for Season 2 of Ghosts but no sign of it yet as far as I know.

Davros · 16/08/2020 22:55

Binging on Bodies. Haven't seen it since it first came out

CurseryKinkajoo · 16/08/2020 22:56

I’m watching Line of Duty. Would really recommend Life On Mars/Ashes to Ashes - we watched them with dc18 & 13 in early lockdown. The DC were gripped and they haven’t really aged due to the time hop thing!!

CurseryKinkajoo · 16/08/2020 22:57

Oh and for comedy Man Like Mobeen is well worth a watch!!
