pneumalifenewname · 03/10/2007 16:07

What's a cabbage bug?

Piggy · 03/10/2007 16:11

Shock horror - bugs on vegetables. Squeal.

Dabbles · 03/10/2007 16:11

nailpolish · 03/10/2007 16:13

omg, did you think it wasgrown in a sterile laboratory or what?

SueBarooeeooeeooooo · 03/10/2007 16:15

You should be ashamed of yourself. You destroyed his habitat.

bozza · 03/10/2007 16:15

Perhaps a caterpillar? I found one on my organic box deliverd cabbage, scraped it off, showed it to my children who were drawing at the kitchen table and put it in the kitchen compost bin. Next thing I know a few days later DH is showing them the compost bin lid complete with chrysalis.

pneumalifenewname · 03/10/2007 16:15

So not quite a slug, a fly or a caterpillar?

I couldn't touch my organic veg when I used to get a Riverford box. I was too afraid of finding a caterpillar (my phobia) but I really ought to be more afraid of the chemicals that nuke them!

Piggy · 03/10/2007 16:16

I'd give you some of the vegetables from our garden but not only do they have bugs on them, they are also covered in mud.

bumpybecky · 03/10/2007 16:16

is it still alive?

I'd prefer a few wriggly things to the thought of lots of pesticides....

Dabbles · 03/10/2007 16:19

OMG?? MUD??

if it was organic box then i would expect such things! but this was PRE-BAGGED FGS!!

(I will have you know i emptied the bag into a strainer and poured boiling water over it, then rinsed it thoroughly [without touching it!! ewww, lol] then into the saucepan of boiling water that i had just boiled my smoked bacon joint in... yes ye sits a dead pig, and i shouldnt be freaked out by cabbage bugs! but hey...lol)

All that for a tiny, teeny little bug?

Bundle · 03/10/2007 16:23

pre bagged?? pre-what? pre-you buying it? or pre-bugs?

bozza · 03/10/2007 16:27

Well obviously not pre-bugs in this case bundle. Is anyone else impressed with my caterpillar chrysalis - making my very own butterfly in the Lakeland Compost Caddy?

Dabbles · 03/10/2007 21:10

bozza! yes well done on the caterpillar!!

btw the cabbage was uymmy, curly Kale, without the bugs!!

bozza · 03/10/2007 21:44

I love cabbage these days. But always buy it complete with bugs.

xXxamyxXx · 03/10/2007 21:50

be happy you noticed it before you ate it
