Bringing the karaoke machine camping?!?!

FusionChefGeoff · 15/08/2020 15:16

Can anyone name anything less appropriate than bringing a KARAOKE machine to a campsite?!?!

We've been here since Tuesday and new neighbours arrived yesterday. We were out this morning and got back for some lunch and they'd cracked open the karaoke?!!!

Terrible singing, very loud and English is not their first language so the words are also hysterically bad.

Honestly, I'm veering on finding it funny as it's just sooooooooo inappropriate but wanted to check....

IABU - it's their holiday too they can warble along for hours if they so wish
IANBU - for the love of God people, read the room that is not on!!

Good god, YANBU at all!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/08/2020 15:19

OMG! I'd have to apologise to the campsite owner and move on!

Or run over their machine.

That's really, really not on!

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 15/08/2020 15:20

YADNBU

WhereTheCrawdadsSing · 15/08/2020 15:20

Ooooooh YANBU. Good lord, why would you ever?

DappledThings · 15/08/2020 15:21

That's awful. Monumentally selfish of them.

Jeremyironsnothing · 15/08/2020 15:23

Really can't think of anything worse, although the time when the drugged up youngsters next to us, were up all night literally screaming, does spring to mind.

Elouera · 15/08/2020 15:23

Surely the campsite have rules about loud music? have you spoken to the campsite owners/managers?

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 15/08/2020 15:24

WTF? This is why we no longer camp. There has to be a site manager. Unbelievably rude.

CourtneyLurve · 15/08/2020 15:27

Welcome to the modern world. You only have to trawl the neighbour threads on here to read posters who think it's their 'human rights, innit' to be as loud as they want until 11 PM.

SoddingWeddings · 15/08/2020 15:30

Fuck me, I'd be straight to the campsite managers for that one. Hope they don't carry on into the evening!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 15/08/2020 15:30

Complain complain complain. Only thing worse would be bongos

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 15/08/2020 15:33

You are so NBU. Dear Lord, a karaoke machine!!!!! What were they thinking? I really hope they don't pull an all-nighter.

FusionChefGeoff · 15/08/2020 15:35

Thankfully they've put a sock in it now - we've let it go for now (ha ha maybe they'll try that one later Grin) but don't worry I will be making my views known VERY clearly should they decide to put on a repeat performance later!!!

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 15/08/2020 15:35

Mind you this has given a good giggle! But then I'm not stuck next door to them. I'd love to see the reactions of the other campers.

1forAll74 · 15/08/2020 15:39

Not good at all, kind of goes against the idea of some peace and quiet in the countryside.. Did they sing Bohemian Rhapsody at full blast !!

JacobReesMogadishu · 15/08/2020 15:44

I'd want to cut their guy ropes in the night so they had to go home! Grin

TheRosariojewels · 15/08/2020 15:49

Imagine what Keith and Candice-Marie would make of it.

Serin · 15/08/2020 15:55

YANBU.
We stayed on a cornish campsite one year and the people opposite bought a fishing trawler while they were there and scuppered it in the middle of the field for 10 days until they arranged to have it towed home.
They lived in Birmingham.
People are weird.

JacobReesMogadishu · 15/08/2020 15:55

did once stay at a tiny campsite in the Lake District which is normally full of hardened climbers and walkers only. No ehu, etc.

A minibus turned up one day which said something like Lewisham TEenage TRust project. A load of teenagers got out, they all looked distinctly unimpressed with the surrounding countryside. They didn’t leave the campsite at all for the weekend but got out some proper full on African style drums.

They were very good at drumming. The acoustics were good as one side of the campsite was a rock face so the sound bounced off that. There were a lot of drums....the ground was vibrating. First couple of hours were quite entertaining....by 11pm not so much. Campsite owner lived a mile away, no onsite warden.

It was soon after that I bought a caravan and joined the caravan club! 😁

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/08/2020 15:57

Camping brings out the weird in some people.

We once went to a beautiful site, flat, well kept grass. People had pitched down both sides, well apart, leaving room for a car plus some space between tents, what you'd expect. It was less that half full.

We cam back to find one man had pitched between us and the tent next door, we were on the end of the row!!!!!

It became less manageable as he then parked his car over our guy ropes, so he could sit between hs car and his tent to eat his tea. The people the other side were bemused, we got more annoyed as he drove out late at night and came back early hours and had a few attempts at parking. I had words that morning (DH was far far too angry) and the bloke told me not to worry, darling!!

Campsite owner told him to move on, so many people had complained on our behalf!

DH never wanted to camp again! Sad

FusionChefGeoff · 15/08/2020 15:59

I think @JacobReesMogadishu may have found the only thing more annoying / unwelcome in a campsite!!

And at least this one is a Holiday Park so I was under no illusions of peaceful star gazing in the silence of nature - but still, there are boundaries no?!

DC have dragged us back out to the shitty fair so at least I'm now listening to proper music blasting through a PA which is a slight improvement.

I'm hoping they will burn out / pass out later!

During daytime hours I'd just find it hilarious and there's a lot of noise on camp sites during the day anyway.
My neighbours shout a lot, but i just find it funny during the day, like a live stream Jeremy Kyle. Its only when its bed time and I'm trying to get the kids to bed when it becomes a real issue.
So I'd go with the flow for now, but let them know when the time more ridiculous and inappropriate.
Though, it is such a weird choice on a camping trip.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/08/2020 16:05

We were next to karaoke campers two summers ago. Luckily only for one night. It was a large extended family group- they put their sleeping tents at one end of their plot (with their young children in) and their 'party' gazebo right next to ours... where our small children were sleeping. Turned their music off at 10, but didn't count the karaoke machine or loud drinking in the quiet rules. It does seem to have become the norm to bring massive TVs, games consoles, music systems etc on camping. Then at 7am you get the sound of electric pumps starting up when people realise their airbeams have lost rigidity due to cooler temps over night.

My least favourite part of camping is People.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/08/2020 16:07

It does seem to have become the norm to bring massive TVs, games consoles, music systems etc on camping. Really??!!??!! Maybe Dh was just well ahead of the times!
