Child maintenance

I haven’t ever claimed a penny of my child’s father in nearly 10 years. He sees him once a week but during lockdown didn’t see him at all (his choice) and didn’t do anything to check he was ok etc. I don’t need the finacial support but feel he has taken advantage and absolved himself from all financial responsibility. He goes on holiday regularly abroad and goes out at least twice a week on a night out. He now lives with his dad for a nominal rent and works full time. He buys him nothing not even a contribution to school uniform. I’m afraid he will use this as a reason not to see my son which will devastate him. Is it worth proceeding with my claim?

Yabu for not claiming 10 years ago even if you had put the money in a bank account for youre ds. He has a financial obligation.

It's not money for you it's for his son. Yabu not to have claimed it

Yes it's worth proceeding because if he chooses not to see his own son, that's not your fault.

He's a grown man and a father. That choice firmly falls on his shoulders.
