Posting here for traffic

I've got bendy rubber ( ?) ice cube trays

1 I bought ages ago from Asda ( green ) , that always worked really well and 2 I've bought recently from amazon ( blue)

I put them through the dishwasher to freshen them up a few weeks ago

Since then ( or maybe before but we cannot remember ) the ice cubes taste bitter / foul

Any ideas ? Is it because we washed them or do you think it's the water once frozen ? - squash is fine as is tap water ,
Freezer is newish and nothing old or stale in it

Chuck them out and get some from Lakeland

When you bought them, did they say they could be washed in the dishwasher ?

Get some ice cube bags, more convenient and take up less freezer space.

The Amazon ones are rarely dishwasher proof as they are often designed for Chinese and Indian markets where handwashing is the norm. They are probably leaching chemicals - bin and replace with Asda ones.

Just found the description, silicon food grade , dishwasher / microwave proof

Thank you all , yes I think I will bin them , it's a shame as they are nicer than the ice cube bags , and really easy to use , just don't want to be poisoned 🤢

Plastic reusable ice cubes are super. Had mine for years. Often in Poundland. Won't water down drinks
Lakeland, Amazon and Poundland don't differ imo
