Indigestion I had after an allergic reaction I’ve found out was a heart attack

Biscuitmonster2318 · 13/08/2020 20:25

Posted this morning on general health about feeling pretty crap with my chest and not being able to breath
Had lots of advice and now I’ve been told that an anaphylactic reaction I had to my Crohn’s mrs in June and the awful heartburn I had for a few minutes and the the ‘heartburn’ I had suffered a few weeks ago for an hour were actually heart attacks

I’m now in a private room in hospital and just dazed

So thank you to the posters who told me to go to the Ibd nurse as I couldn’t get hold of GP.

As I’ve had another small one whilst in here. Told it’s probably due to allergic reaction I had to Stelera in june

Flowers That must be so scary. You are in the best place to be now though, I hope you manage some sleep and rest over the coming days. Get better soon.

Biscuitmonster2318 · 13/08/2020 21:00

I’m sat upright at the moment still hardly able to breathe properly.
I’m a lot freaked out right now and even more because I have to be on my one

How awful for you, OP. Hand-hold from afar.

altiara · 13/08/2020 21:06

You’re in the best place, so concentrate on that (if it helps).
Hope you start feeling better soon Flowers

iklboo · 13/08/2020 21:08

Goodness!! Get well and feel well soon OP.

TitianaTitsling · 13/08/2020 21:10

Oh bloody hell! Sending you good thoughts! (And pleased to see we vipers do do good!)

Pesimistic · 13/08/2020 21:14

Goodness me, how frightening for you, have they mentioned any treatment going forward or have you only just been seen? Dis you have any inkling that you could have been having a heart attack while you were having the episodes or not?

Biscuitmonster2318 · 13/08/2020 21:23

@Pesimistic no I just thought it was indigestion or something like that. As the first time it happened was only for a few minutes after I had had an anaphylactic reaction to my Crohn’s. biologicals. My lips swelled and mouth and throat. Then the indigestion.
I mentor to the doctor at time and was told it was nothing.
The last time was a few weeks ago in Ibiza and was on and off for an hour. It was so painful and I felt awful. I slept for two days straight after that.

So wouldn’t have mentioned it to docs again after first one told me it was nothing

Hope you are getting better. That is terrible the Dr dismissed it the first time. Hopefully not because you are female as those symptoms are normally taken seriously in men. Must be so hard if you can't have any visitors right now. At least the hospitals are quiet so you should get looked after

BogRollBOGOF · 13/08/2020 21:49

You're in the best place now even though the general circumstances are far from ideal Flowers

My dad was swigging away at Gaviscon and playing his "indigestion" down even though he'd had a major heart attack just a few years earlier. The GP should have known better with his medical history and sent him straight to A&E, according to the inquest. He'd have had a better chance of surviving the day anyway.

BringMeTea · 13/08/2020 22:01

Oh you poor thing. Get well soon! Flowers

BostonFernGreen · 13/08/2020 22:02

Hi OP, sorry to hear you're not feeling good. How do they know it's a heart attack? If it was dismissed at the time without tests, how can they now say what it was? Allergic reactions don't usually lead to a heart attack. If you're in a private room, be sure to call a nurse ASAP if you start to have any more symptoms.

You will be fine, it's scary but it's very common and very well managed these days.

Titterofwit · 13/08/2020 22:07

How scary for you to deal with and to have to be on your own in the hospital.
But really you need to 'talk' about this . You have been through the mill and are still not in the clear yet.

Keep posting . You know that the best thing about MN is we never close Wink

dudsville · 13/08/2020 22:09

Wow my god. You must be so shocked, i can't imagine. You're where you need to be. My mother once had emergency heart surgery and hadn't seen it coming. Women's heart problems¹ are notoriously not what were grew up to extract.

dudsville · 13/08/2020 22:10

(How in the hell did i manage to annotate problems?????)

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 13/08/2020 22:14

A picture of my nightmare lovely dpuppy to cheer you up op.
Pic of dcat /drabbits /dsnake available if ddogs aren't your bag!!

Yes this happened to my aunty. She had some health issues anyway but mentioned to the doctor she’d had terrible indigestion whilst taking about about something else,he looked in to it and she had actually had a heat attack.

Glad your being looked after and hope your ok

I think they can do a test that shows if you’ve had previous heart attacks. No idea how though!
bendybarbarabee · 13/08/2020 22:25

They can, there are certain markers in the blood that show if you’ve had a heart attack. My friend found out he’d had one a week earlier whilst on holiday, which he’d thought was awful indigestion and a hangover.

The symptoms in women in particular can be very different to the assumption that it’ll be clutching at your chest and keeling over.

You’re in the right place OP, and now they know they can look at getting you back to yourself. Sending a big hand hold Flowers

Biscuitmonster2318 · 13/08/2020 22:43

Thank you all for the kind messages it has meant a lot to me and made me tear up.
I was getting so frustrated this morning as you might see on my previous post.

They have now discovered a PE, I have a raging infection which a’e doc said I didn’t as my temp was 35.5 and not raised. The consultant on ward said it can either way. So starting on 3 lots of antibiotics. I had sepsis two years ago and she said she will bombard me with antibiotics as a precaution.
My Crohn’s consultant said she was to do a lung scan as a rare side effect of the Stelera is interstitial lungs??? Don’t have a clue what it is but to much tonight to find out. They thing I’m getting a goitre as it’s swollen and puffy .
Still finding it hard to Take it all in. But at least I know why I was feeling so bloody unwell.

But Heart attack.. I just want to cry but don’t know why I keep thinking what if I’m holiday it had been worse.
All the time I was asking for help I was getting fobbed off

Hope you get well soon. My mum thought she had indigestion which was later diagnosed as a heart attack.
