I no this is a long shot but we were supposed to get married this year before our little girl was born in June. Unfortunately because of corona it all got cancelled and refunded. We are now going away to Cornwall and have booked a registration wedding just to do the legal bit but need witnesses !!!

It will be on 8th October 2020 at 3:30 in Truro registry office would anyone be prepared to take 15 minutes out of their day and witness for us? Do you think it would be easy to pull people off the street how can we do this please help.

I did this for a lovely mnetter in Manchester, it was an absolute privilege
Hope you find someone x

alexdgr8 · 13/08/2020 19:39

get there at 3pm, and ask passers-by. or staff in the vicinity.
they'd be honoured.
you only need two.
good luck.

check the restrictions. have extra masks/ hand gel at the ready.

Blatantly place marking

A previous, similar, thread was absolutely lovely

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/08/2020 19:49

Congratulations OP! Wishing you a very happy wedding. I’m many miles away but will think of you.

Barbthebuilder · 13/08/2020 19:55

Bumping for you! I've witnessed two Mumsnet weddings but I'm too far away for you. I'm sure someone local will be along soon!

Sharpkat · 13/08/2020 20:02

I would suggest reposting with time, date and location in title to attract people. MNers love a good wedding. I would be there in a heartbeat but live in York Smile

Good luck! And come back and tell us all about it.

wewillmeetagain · 13/08/2020 20:11

Oh I'd love to do this but I'm to far away ☹️, I hope you manage to find people.

MaggieFS · 13/08/2020 20:32

Love these threads!

If you don't get very far, I agree with pp to post the date & location in a new thread title.

Sorry it's no where near me!

chromis · 14/08/2020 06:05

I've been a Mumsnet wedding witness. Was lovely, have a tear in my eye thinking about it still. People will always be happy to help.

No-where near Cornwall sorry! but Congratulations and good luck Flowers

@Mama1994 hi both me and my DH live in Falmouth (approx 11 miles from Truro) and are happy to be witnesses for you.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 22/08/2020 18:46

That’s mine and my husbands tenth anniversary. If I was anywhere near you I would do it in a heartbeat in the name of love. Congratulations OP.

CornishTiger · 22/08/2020 18:50

Id have done this for you if it was closer to my work. Post on mumsnet local.

Truro registry office is one of the nicer buildings btw.

CornishTiger · 22/08/2020 18:50

@lorn195 that’s fab

lorn195 · 22/08/2020 18:51

@CornishTiger I agree. I drove past it yesterday and it's definitely a nicer place than some I have seen.

CornishTiger · 22/08/2020 18:54

It was my first choice but we’d registered a death in there so didn’t want to upset DH or MIL.

Do you need any ideas for somewhere nice to go afterwards?

Thehop · 22/08/2020 19:06

@lorn195 that’s lovely 😍

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 22/08/2020 19:11

Congrats OP

lorn195 · 22/08/2020 19:21

@CornishTiger I totally understand. I have seen Falmouth and Bodmin registry offices and neither are as nice.

lorn195 · 22/08/2020 19:27

@Thehop thanks. It's so lovely that we can help out on such an important day.

ZigZagPlant · 22/08/2020 20:02

Ask the staff if they can be witnesses-some places can and some can’t.

user1473878824 · 22/08/2020 21:13

Ahh congratulations OP! This is lovely. Please let us know how your day goes xxx

CurseryKinkajoo · 01/10/2020 07:07

Morning op, are we still on for next Friday? I can’t believe it’s getting close!!
