Tummy tuck?

I posted this on chat but had no response so trying here for traffic!

I’m currently looking in to having a tummy tuck. I’ve lost over 7st and although it’s not as bad as it could have been....I have some loose skin on my tummy that I’m really not happy with.
So, have you had one? If so, would you recommend where you had it done? How long was recovery and are you pleased with the results?
Thanks smile

My mate had one. Put all the weight back on. She regrets it now as she could have got a house deposit for the money.

Well I’m hoping that wouldn’t happen to me as I’ve maintained my current weight for 7 years now and have no plans to put any of it back on!

A friend of mine had it done due to post pregnancy loose skin.

I can’t lie, the recovery was tough on her - she spent 3 days in hospital afterwards and the first week was very painful she said and she had to be exceptionally careful for 6 weeks after (no work, no driving, no lifting at all). She also had to wear special Spanx type pants for 6 weeks afterwards.

But a year on she has no regrets and is so glad she had it done - I have seen the before and after photos and the difference is immense. Obviously there is significant scarring but that will continue to fade.

(Also hers was done on the NHS as she also had bad diastasis recti but I think that’s quite unusual)

Well done on the weight loss and maintaining it. You must feel like a different person?

There was a similar thread 2 weeks ago, but it was about regretting not having lipo after the tummy tuck. My mum has a tummy tuck several years back, but abroad. She was advised at the time to have lipo on her hips to balance it out. She declined, as thought she'd see how the tummy settled. I dont recall any major post op issues, infections etc.

Her main issue afterwards was that her shape completely changed from being an hourglass to a pear shape. She had to get alot of new clothes and learn to dress her new shape. She doesnt regret the tuck at all though, and has since managed to lose additional weight and keep it off. She does wish she'd had the lipo though, because she now looks rather 'hippy' which she never did before. Minor issue in the scheme of things though.
