To ask if you believe in soul mates?

I always used to believe in soul mates-that there was someone destined for you who would suit you better than anyone else ever could. 32 years and 4 serious relationships later, I don't believe that to be the case anymore. Plus the concept of soul mates seems to be a late 20th century construct, probably enabled to some degree by Hollywood. I'd be interested to know what everyone else thinks and why, and has your thinking changed over the years with experience?

No, DH isn’t my soulmate but we are incredibly compatible. I was worried after being with a boyfriend for 2.5 years that maybe I wasn’t suited to long term relationships. I was besotted with him at first but he soon started to drive me insane and I hated him by the end.

I’ve been with DH 7 years and I’m not bored of him. I miss him when he’s not here and I can’t imagine not being with him. I felt something weird when I met him, like I knew he was important to me but I believe I’d have met someone else if I hadn’t met him.

I didn't used I had several long term relationships including a marriage and didn't get that.
However, I meet my DP he is my better half, he completes me and is my soul mate. I would lay down my life for him. There is some kind of a connection that when I first met him terrified me, I never believed in love at first sight before either, but as they say 'it was just magic'.
But I don't believe there is just one, my DP's first wife was also his soulmate, they were together for 25 years and his heart literally broke when she died - super fit cyclist suddenly needing three cardiac stents. He tells me he never ever believed he would find that love again.
