It's hammering it down outside, but it's so hot and humid. DP went to close window "because the curtains will get wet". Never mind the sodding curtains, I'm melting!

Tell him the curtains will dry and open them back up.

Oh open it! I'm sure the curtains will survive.

Disappointingly, there's been only one distant rumble of thunder. Last night's storm was spectacular - I vaguely remember trying to ignore it and get back to sleep. I wear earplugs and it was still loud.

I’ve always heard that when it’s exceptionally hot outside that you should keep your windows shut to keep the hot air out.
You should also open the attic door to let the hot air rise into your roof.
