AIBU?

To think this was the most dickheadish thing I’ve ever seem

Have name changed as this is outing (especially if anyone was also there).

Dh and I went for a break this weekend. Nice country hotel but not like that amazing.

Anyway - a family turned up via helicopter and parked it on the main lawn - so basically left it where everyone was sitting eating dinner/having drinks,

Unsurprisingly a parked helicopter gets quite a lot of attention from children playing on the lawn. As a small child with his mum went to peer into the window the husband came running across (a very long) lawn screaming “DONT TOUCHMY HELICOPTER” kid wasn’t touching it and do t park a fucking helicopter in a huge public space if you don’t want anyone looking at it.

First AIBU to think the guy was an absolute duck and secondly have you ever experienced anything as ridiculous.

@RJnomore1

Am I the only one that would want to lick my finger and stand with it about 2mm away from said helicopter repeating “I’m not touching I’m not touching I’m not touching” until he explodes? 😂

I would SO be doing that too Grin

Ridiculous.

He should have been shouting, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY CHOPPER!"

@GabsAlot she’s right it was! Shame she missed the fun of chopper man! It was entertaining.

He's right to tell children to stay away from a helicopter, running up to a helicopter or other plane is never a good idea. Obviously it's not going to happen with a helicopter but having seen a person with their arm sliced open by a slightly moving propeller on a light aircraft I'd discourage it at all costs.

To those asking, landing helicopters at country hotels is popular.

Agree & lots use them because traffic is so bad. I've been in one once, hated it!

@lollyfog ooh and less chance of catching Covid than if you got on the train too - I may have to rethink how I commute Wink

Fancy hotel near us has a helipad. The best fun is when there’s more than one helly there which means neither gets bragging rights Grin.
DH used to work for a racehorse trainer and went up and down the country in the helly, as did other staff. He didn’t like it one bit in bad weather.

I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere where guests arrived by helicopter !

Like a pp above, I too am wondering what a Mumsnetter is meant to look like Grin

@shinynewapple2020 haha she looked well... normal I suppose. In her 40s two teenage children and a husband who is very particular about his helicopter 🚁

I went for an afternoon tea last summer at a large stately home and two couples arrived half way through in a helicopter.

I remember thinking did they have to land it directly outside as the grassed area was huge. When one of the guys came waltzing in I did think he looked like an arrogant prick

I just knew it would be at Tylney Hall @Getoffmyhelicopter.

I've had a similar experience. They really need to sort out the chopper parking situation because I can assure you, it's not a one off. Wonder if it was the same man.

Years ago, we were walking past a flashy car in a huge car park after an open air concert. The car lights flashed, and the car started announcing, "Keep back! Proximity violation alert! Keep back!" (We may have spent a little while taunting it 😁)

@Jargo I sort of hope so - otherwise there are several of them out there!

Our helicopter twat experience was at a hotel in Hampshire too. Rhinefield house. We were at a wedding when the hole wedding was moved into a small sort of sub garden area as someone wanted to park their helicopter on the main lawn. Whoever it was, the hotel spent the entire time making sure no-one even looked at the helicopter funny. The wedding was definitely shunted to one side for the afternoon. They were crap for the whole thing actually. That was in the new forest though.

Eastwell is very local to me - OK but not what it was. Loads of helicopters with similar people in, all chartered obviously. From the website, Tylney Hall looks very similar but a bit less chavtastic.

Nearly behaved badly at Eastwell - overnighter for spa time with dd - dozy woman at breakfast (who took ages bringing me coffee - bad move!) asked if I'd finished. Very obviously had. Needed to talk myself down from saying, "Not quite," and licking my plate in a very over exaggerated way! I need to grow up now I'm 56!

Next time take it's number and call an anonymous drug line saying you suspect it's been hired by dealers and it's been seen at (location) then sit back and enjoy the blues and twos.

We were in a queue for a flight many years ago when a loud woman arrived with her 'entourage' and her 'don't you know who I am' attitude, long before you could book priority etc and she wanted to be treated as a VIP, I think her hisband kicked a football around. It was very funny and amused the queue, especially a couple of HM's grandchildren who were queuing.

Tom Cruise stopped by In his helicopter for a sandwich at DH’s golf club very recently. As you don’t.
