Lady V dresses

Sorry, This isn't really an AIBU but I was posting for advice and traffic....

I was a big fan of Lindy Bop dresses and disappointed when they went into administration. However, following advice on here, I looked at the Lady V website and really like the stock they have. However, some reviews say that the sizing is smaller than expected.

Can anyone advised me if they have found the sizing for the dresses to be true or small for size, please?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Hey,

I’d say they were true to size.
They have a really good tool on each different dress type where you put in your details and they calculate which dress size you shout order.

Hope this helps x

Thanks Coops! It does help and it's great to get advice from someone who has purchased from them.Smile

I wear a size 8 from there, which is my most usual size. I’m a size 10 in places like top shop or H&M for context. I own 2 lady V dresses and love them. You might also like British retro if you don’t already shop there. I hope that helps.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/08/2020 20:59

I have several and think they are true to size, at least widthways! I'm 5'8" and find them a little short in the body (the waist is a little bit too high) but nothing that really spoils it for me.

Charmatt · 11/08/2020 21:03

Thank you, everyone! I knew you'd give great advice.

I was also a Lindy Bop girl. I’m a big fan of Hell Bunny. Also try www.tigermilly.com/

HeySeamus · 11/08/2020 21:32

I'm a size 10 in some of their styles and a 12 in others. Their dresses are lovely though and it's now my "go to" place for an occasion dress.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/08/2020 21:34

True to size I’d say. You can still get Lindy Bop dresses on eBay.

polkadotpixie · 11/08/2020 21:57

I didn't know Lindy Bop has gone into administration 😭

CaptainHammer · 11/08/2020 22:02

I’ve always found them true to size

aibutohavethisusername · 11/08/2020 22:18

I think they are TTS too. There is a Facebook selling group with Lady V dresses in if you’re watching the pennies.

Charmatt · 12/08/2020 15:26

Thank you to everyone for their help. I am going to purchase a dress......

.....and probably end up with a wardrobe full!Grin

Lovely! What have you ordered?

Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 12/08/2020 16:25

I have many dresses from there, I do find them true to size apart from the chest area, I have a small chest and some Of them are a little big around the chest, but nothing really bad. They’re beautiful and well made though be prepared to spend a fortune Grin

Oldraver · 12/08/2020 16:26

I always need an 18 though 16 everywhere else I buy from

Jengnr · 12/08/2020 16:32

I find them small too.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 12/08/2020 16:40

I've not tried Lady V, although I had a couple of Lindy Bop dresses - in my experience, the quality and cut deteriorated after the company started to get bigger. The first dress I bought from them is beautifully made but I sold the second one on as I was disappointed with it.

Have you tried Collectif?

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2020 17:13

I have many Lady V dresses, as they are just about the only place I know that does affordable dresses I like for rather large ladies like me.

I find the sizes seem OK, but of course it very much depends on which dress and so which fabric they are made from. For Lyra (stretchy), I go a size down, for something like Isabella (not stretchy) I go for my usual size.

My biggest problem with them is not buying dresses I can't justify the spend on! Grin

SecretSpAD · 12/08/2020 17:26

They look gorgeous but it looks like most of them are polyester - how polyester-y are they? I can't stand it normally but those dresses are so me!

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2020 19:14

The stretchy ones like Lyra, Kalita & Maya are polyester, but comparatively silky & lightweight. The others are mostly cotton, e.g. 97% cotton 3% elastane.

ButtWormHole · 12/08/2020 19:28

There’s still lots of Lindy Bop on eBay, lots brand new with tags too 😍

Oldraver · 12/08/2020 20:02

The Lyra is a lovely dress. I have a Christmas one and recently bought a jade green one with cats

My favourite style is the day dress but they were out of stock last time I looked

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2020 20:33

They've got a few in the sale at the mo, there's a gorgeous pattern Gossamer Rose - but only left in size 10! Maybe half a dozen patterns of the Day Dress in stock at the mo Smile

For me, round necks make my chubby face look even larger so I stick to Vs

Charmatt · 12/08/2020 21:02

Thanks again to everyone. I've ordered a swing dress in LemoniaWink

My favourite is the Hepburn, as the tea dresses are a bit short on me ( I'm not a spring chicken). I was thinking of trying an Eva next...!
