If you've been both slim and overweight

Do you sweat and struggle more in this heat? Do you smell more too, I've been slim and now over weight and really struggling but can't remember being thin so I don't know

OP posts:

Yes but I think it's a clothing thing. When I was a size 8 I wore skimpy dresses, bare midriff and wouldn't think twice about walking round house and garden in a bikini.

I'm actually only a 12 now (though BMI says overweight as I'm a shorty!) and I tend to wear more clothes because having to keep tuck my belly back in my bikini bottoms gets tiresome Grin

GertrudeCB · 11/08/2020 18:27

Agree with the pp, it's a clothing issue. Lots of loose and cotton will help Wink

Wendalicious · 11/08/2020 18:29

I’m a size 20 and today wore a vest top and some leggings! I was boiling but felt I couldn’t decently wear much less x

1Morewineplease · 11/08/2020 18:34

I’ve nearly always been overweight but right now I’m a size 18. Sorry if this is TMI but I’m sweating in places that I’ve never sweated in before.
What saddens me is needing to wear leggings under my floaty linens as I can’t bear thigh rub or having to pick my dresses from my nether regions when I stand up.
When I was size 10 I never suffered with this and wore floaty things that allowed air to flow and air surrounded my legs.
Need to work harder...

Youngatheart00 · 11/08/2020 18:35

I definitely struggle now I’m a size 14, the chafing and sweating 😫 didn’t have this issue as an 8/10 and more body confident to wear less too

beela · 11/08/2020 18:39

I was definitely more sweaty when I was a size 14-16. Now I'm a size 10 and can cope much better with the heat.

On the other hand, I'm flippin freezing all winter.

wagtailred · 11/08/2020 18:39

I was constantly freezing in winter and still got hot in summer when i was thin. Now i have a layer of internal padding i really dont get as cold as easily in winter and get uncomfortabley hot more easily.

mynameiscalypso · 11/08/2020 18:41

I'm a sweaty mess whatever size (have been between a 6 and a 16) and whether heavily pregnant (like last year in the heatwave) or not at all pregnant (like this year). I have a very sweaty baby too so I think it's just one of those things. I'm a size 8 at the moment and discovered that my shins sweat last week which was nice. Chafing is definitely an issue at a bigger size though.

pollysproggle · 11/08/2020 18:41

I'm two stone heavier at the moment (just had a baby) and boob sweat is horrendous!

Cillmantain · 11/08/2020 18:45

I am a size 10 to 12 currently and on extremely warm days struggle with the heat
However as a size 16 to 18 it was much worse..especially when my thighs rubbed off each other.

NameChange84 · 11/08/2020 18:47

Size 12 now was an old size 10 or 8. I get very tight swollen legs, breathlessness, tiredness. I’m too young to feel like this!

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 11/08/2020 18:50

Yes, & yes. Although to be fair, it was almost a decade ago, & before I had DD, that I was last really slim. So I feel I am much closer to middle age & menopause...
I have always been the type to feel the cold though. DH & DD laugh at me, wrapped up in many layers in winter - they are both naturally warm.

Stripesgalore · 11/08/2020 18:53

Yes. I was an 8, been up to 18. I have lost a stone since corona began but am still pouring with sweat. I am today and only in underwear - still far too warm. I feel like a seal made to live in the tropics. It is one of my main reasons for wanting to lose more weight.

Hairthrowaway · 11/08/2020 18:58

Some might be unlucky enough to sweat profusely even when slim/wearing a bikini or whatever

Lifestyle matters too. This time last year I was travelling to work via my air conditioned car into my air conditioned office so the heat never really affected me much. Now that I’m at my hot house WFH, it’s hell. I’m sweating from every angle and I’m slimBlush so lockdown & COVID may be skewing some’s experiences

SummerNamechangeHappened · 11/08/2020 18:59

Oh for god's sake get some nice cotton dresses & some glide stuff on your thighs! Cold showers as often as you can. Everyone is hot. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hotandknackered · 11/08/2020 20:09

I'm definitely hotter than I was when I was slimmer. But now I think fuck it and wear shorts. I also wear just my bralette around the house with shorts or something on the bottom. I don't like wearing low cut tops but never really have. I've just stopped being uncomfortable for other people I don't know. I'm a size 20 btw.

Hotandknackered · 11/08/2020 20:10

Although I have always been sweaty its just worse now!

managedmis · 11/08/2020 20:11

Yes, it's way easier being thinner in this heat

At a size 16 I had sweat rash, red rosy cheeks. Looked like Mrs. Patmore on baking day

ZigZagPlant · 11/08/2020 20:12

Absolutely!

PomBearSandwich · 11/08/2020 20:15

Before getting pregnant, I used to think under boob sweat was a myth.

2 years post baby and still carrying the excess 2 stone, I spent 5minutes earlier standing in front of the fan holding my boobs up Blush

MumsyMumIAmNot · 11/08/2020 20:17

Yep! Was size 8 now a size 16 and its so bad 😱 trying to loose weight.

Branleuse · 11/08/2020 20:18

i think i found the heat easier when I was really thin, but I think im struggling more now due to my age more than anything, plus it really IS hotter than it usually is

Grapewrath · 11/08/2020 20:19

I’m slim and definitely felt it more at a size 14 compared to an 8. Had bigger boobs and thighs and a few rolls- they were the areas that were problematic
I wear the same clothes then and now btw.

Drivingdownthe101 · 11/08/2020 20:22

Yes definitely. Struggling much more now at a 12/14 than I did at an 8/10.
Hence the diet I am currently on.

Umbridge34 · 11/08/2020 20:23

I'm hot and sweaty no matter my size. And the chafing never went away when I was much slimmer either. However I also agree that clothing plays its part. Natural fibres at affordable prices aren't exactly in abundance in plus sizes
