If you've been both slim and overweight

Do you sweat and struggle more in this heat? Do you smell more too, I've been slim and now over weight and really struggling but can't remember being thin so I don't know

I feel the same when I was thinner tbh. I am 1 stone overweight than before. I was 4 stone over previously which was at my slimmest.

Brown76 · 11/08/2020 20:28

I’m slim-ish (size 10) but have sweat in all the folds on my tummy

WhereamI88 · 11/08/2020 20:30

Yes, it was definitely harder when I was heavier, more underboob sweat, lots of body parts rubbing and creating a rash...

Thewheelsfelloffthebus · 11/08/2020 20:32

Yes - was was always a 10 - 12 until a couple of years ago and currently nearer an 18 and can definitely notice the difference.
Back to the gym for me (once it’s cooled down of course).

MrsGrindah · 11/08/2020 20:36

I’m weird. When I was a size18/20 I definitely had a problem with sweat and chafing. Now I’m a 12 I have hardly any problems apart from sweaty feet. I hardly sweat at all..think I’m Prince Andrew! Currently in bed under a duvet!

Vallmo47 · 11/08/2020 20:43

Was always cold/cool as a size 10/12 and now a size 14/16 and cannot stop sweating. Had no idea I could ever feel this hot. It’s absolutely the weight. Just waiting for the next person to come along and say lose some weight then 😂 For some of us it’s a medical issue alright. 😬

Pringlemonster · 11/08/2020 20:55

I buy like, collets that’s go under your clothes ,they glide as a slippery material and don’t stick to your skin ...wonderful ,you get them from simply be £22 for 2 pairs..it’s like wearing an underskirt ,no rub of thighs at all.
So my days of cycling shorts under skirts are gone
Honestly it’s been a game changer

Pringlemonster · 11/08/2020 20:58

I’m big ..but 2 showers a day ,soaking my hair in cold water ,and loose clothing was enough to see me through the day..my glasses were sweaty underneath ,and under my mask ,but that’s all really

riotlady · 11/08/2020 21:01

Yeah, when I was slim I still got hot but was able to cool myself down much more quickly and effectively. Now I feel like my fat layer is holding all the heat in!

lockdownalli · 11/08/2020 21:02

I have been all sizes between 8 and 16, cycled repeatedly between the two throughout my adult life (yeah, I know!)

However, I very rarely sweat, even at my heaviest. I love the really hot weather we have been experiencing. Going out for walks in the sunshine makes me so happy.

I only start to get sweaty and uncomfortable at around 37 degrees. Am currently a size 12/14.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 11/08/2020 21:02

I’ve been between a 6 and 16 and I love the heat just as much at either size. I do think extra weight can be a contributing factor to some people but it’s not for me.

I have raynauds though and suffer like buggery in the cold. These past few days I’ve felt like everyone else must feel most of the time.

fuckingcovid · 11/08/2020 21:05

Size 10/12 and I get sweat around my panty legs and sweaty under my boobs. I can though wear very floating clothes and have thought about panty free life.

thebear1 · 11/08/2020 21:08

Summer is harder when I am heavier, sweat more, feel more self conscious and clothes feel more uncomfortable.

MrsSnitchnose · 11/08/2020 21:13

Yep. Size 20 at my heaviest, now size 8. Definitely was a lot worse when I was bigger. I loathe Summer anyway but it's more managable now I'm smaller and I don't have any areas that rub together

Mingo2010 · 11/08/2020 21:30

Glad to hear it's not just me, I sweat loads and smell too, I never used too!! Will look into some different clothing because i still wear the style I did before I got big but don't know why 🙈 doesn't do me any favours!! Xx

Couchbettato · 11/08/2020 21:34

Indefinitely get out of breath more which makes me sweatier.

Couchbettato · 11/08/2020 21:34

Oops. I definitely. However it seems indefinitely too right now..

It's much nicer in winter to be a size 10-12 than skinny tho..... I used to have blue lips and live in bed.

Wannabangbang · 11/08/2020 21:49

Yes I'm a size 18 but in the middle of losing weight hoping not to struggle next summer. I think it's the clothing issue as i don't feel confident to wear skimpy clothes and also my huge thighs chaff together and hurt badly with all the walking i do, so i have to wear shorts underneath dresses or leggings with everything. When i was slimmer i could wear less and the heat didn't affect me this badly

PumpkinPie2016 · 11/08/2020 21:57

I'm a size 8-10 and although I have always struggled in the heat, it was far worse when I was a size 12.

I think exercise has helped -I can quite happily run 4/5 miles on a warm morning (even though I obviously sweat) and I seem to cope better during the day.

I could quite happily live at the North pole though -would suit me down to the ground. I really don't like hot weather Grin

TheQuaffle · 11/08/2020 22:10

Yes and yes. Way sweatier in my heavier days

veryvery · 11/08/2020 22:28

I think it's just really bloody hot at the moment. I've never liked the heat, thin or fatter. I have fair skin and sweat. When I run it comes off me in drops. One day I actually thought it was starting to rain. I'm not particularly fat either. 5 ft 7, size 10, healthy BMI. I am fair skinned and a lot of the suncreams that I need to wear don't really help. Just bought some dry spray sunscreen as I remember it with fondness from years ago. I actually even used to bare my shoulders sometimes. But the other year I got a dry alcohol based sun lotion and it really dried my skin out badly on my neck which is now sun damaged with thread veins so I have to be careful. I've not been wearing dresses much because of suncream issues. But when I was fatter I could get chafing so used to wear a divided slip. Mind you one of my running tops did chafe on the arms recently. I blame global warming!

Nottherealslimshady · 11/08/2020 22:30

I was overweight, then got slim, now I'm overweight again. I can very much feel the difference. Even without this heat, I'm so damn uncomfortable. But my god I love cake.

Nottherealslimshady · 11/08/2020 22:31

And I'm only a size 10-14. But my thighs rub together which is horrific.
