To think that the biscuit emoji IS also used to describe a troll thread?

After all the heavy, divisive threads the last couple of days I thought I’d ask opinion on this. A bit more light hearted... BiscuitGrin

Now I was told it was started with the Gordon Brown thing yeas ago and evolved to mean different things, such as, taking the piss with the comment, taking the piss with the thread (aka a troll), it’s not real or it’s that far fetched that it’s not worth a reply.

Some people seem adamant it’s never used to suggest a troll thread.

So can someone tell me, are they wrong? Do people use it in that context?!

YABU - It’s never used to suggest a troll
YANBI - it can be used to suggest a troll

Happy voting!

Biscuit
IveSeenThings · 11/08/2020 00:46

It really isn't to indicate trolling, it's basically a "meh, I can't be arsed to comment on your thread". In the way "parp" or "4" used to be.

If people are using the biscuit to indicate they believe it's a troll, then they're obviously fairly new to MN.

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2020 00:48

If you look at the list of emojis, MNHQ describes the biscuit as 'no comment'.

blurpityblurp · 11/08/2020 00:48

Yes, it’s often used to indicate troll. (Have been on MN for eight years.)

See.... when I first joined not that long ago, I wondered why they kept appearing randomly.

I even asked what it meant as I thought they clearly mean something. Then someone said all of the above and they’d been here for years and seen it evolve over time...

Mind you, I thought they were flowers before I was informed tgey were actually biscuits Confused

Funny - I always took it to mean,

"Oh dear, never mind, have a biscuit..." In a sort of faux patronising way to imply that the OP is being ridiculous/first world problem/PFB/talking rubbish.

Chanjer · 11/08/2020 12:39

Takes the biscuit ( in a variety of senses) one of which is obvious trolling, or obviously goady thread

ShirleyPhallus · 11/08/2020 12:40

I thought it was a bit of a “I can’t be bothered to even engage with you but what I really want to say is fuck off”

So yes, can be used for troll threads

AranciaRosso · 11/08/2020 12:41

Biscuit to you prescribing how people should vote. It's a vote, not a poll.

More Biscuit

Pelleas · 11/08/2020 12:45

Often used on goady trolls - racists, benefit bashers, misogynists etc.

SnuggyBuggy · 11/08/2020 12:46

I thought we weren't allowed to troll hunt

FlamingoAndJohn · 11/08/2020 12:48

I took it to mean ‘I really don’t care, here’s a biscuit’. Like you might distract a toddler from a nothing issue with a biscuit.

PreggersMcPreggers · 11/08/2020 12:50

I didn't realise it was a biscuit.. I thought it was a pineapple Shock

SillyUnMurphy · 11/08/2020 12:50

I know what the MN biscuit means but to me it looks like a boob. So, in my head, whenever I see Biscuit I always think someone is calling the poster out as a tit.

PoppySeedSaid · 11/08/2020 12:51
Biscuit
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 11/08/2020 12:55

It used to be, alongside with many other uses, but not anymore, because we’re not allowed to troll guns.

I am in a tiny minority on MN but in my opinion, posting a Goady Fucker thread is not the same as trolling.
For me, trolling is always reactive, whereas the GF threads are taking an initiative to be goady.

TableFlowerss · 11/08/2020 14:33

I thought it was a flower - like a fancy daffodil, someone else thought it was a boob, another a pineapple 😂
