To wonder why up to 35 is now considered young

I’ve just seen an article where young people are referred to as being up to 35. Aibu to wonder why this is when it used to be 25 maximum that was viewed as a young person.

My bad. Sorry.

you're right, who would like to have good disposable income, good job security, a cheap house that doubles in value every 10 years....

well yeah, but many of them felt pressured to marry young, didn’t have maternity/paternity leave, faced immense gender prejudices, etc. it wasn’t all roses.

Born 1956, so peak boomer. I'm just here to be hated.

Perhaps you'd like to not have access to safe and legal abortion, rape crisis centres, women's shelters, women's health centres, and so on - all fought for and established by boomer women. Many of who are now homeless, by the way. Women 55 and up are the fastest growing sector in homelessness, now.

I think all the 30s in general should still be considered young. Even up to early 40s

@SleepingStandingUp 36 is still very young, specially these days.. early middle age starts around 39. Even up to early 40s can still be considered youngish despite the fact that they are already in early middle age range. Only thing I do agree is that after around 47 is the start of old age.

Because 35 is about when a lot of people nowadays can expect to be able to afford a lot of the traditional markers of adulthood - kids, buying homes etc?

In my mind if you have children yourself then you are no longer young!
