I know this isn't the right section - apologies - I wasn't sure where to put this.

Just arrived on holiday, v long journey, driven by my mother who is disabled and has gone straight to bed.
I have a broken leg.
Loaded and we've managed to forget ASD sons case. All his clothes, everything. He's 14 and getting more and more upset.

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy clothes? I have v poor reception and can't get google to work, and my leg is too painful to send time looking.

Any advice very very gratefully received

Thank you for reading

Oh OP that’s shit.... Not local but a frequent visitor.

Whitby is lovely but a pain for this sort of thing. Not many high street shops at all.

Whereabouts in Whitby are you staying? In the town centre? Old or new?

Wimpeyspread · 10/08/2020 18:48

Sainsbury’s, up on the Scarborough road

Paperthin · 10/08/2020 18:49

ASOS - usually quick delivery. I think NEXT do next day delivery if you order before 10pm too.

Paperthin · 10/08/2020 18:50

Is there an ASDA nearby or Sainsbury ?

gegs73 · 10/08/2020 18:50

Can you go on ASOS and order him some from there with next day delivery? We did this in Filey a couple of weeks ago as we had forgotten swim shorts. It was really easy and they delivered them to a local newsagent.

MeMyselfAye · 10/08/2020 18:51

There’s an m and co in the town, they should have some teen clothes

Cheetahfajita · 10/08/2020 18:52

Oh what a shame. I agree with next next day delivery.

Couchto5ktowine · 10/08/2020 18:52

Agree, Whitby is a nightmare for this kind of thing. Mountain Warehouse is the only clothing shop I can remember?! Obviously there’s a lot of independents on the old town side if he’s into goth wear!

Artus · 10/08/2020 18:56

I think Boyes, opposite the train station will have some basics.

Wimpeyspread · 10/08/2020 18:59

If it can wait until tomorrow, Boyes on Baxtergate, or M&Co

spongebunnyfatpants · 10/08/2020 19:04

It local, but frequently visit. There's an m&co in the town centre and a sainsburys on Scarbrough Road. There's also a mountain warehouse in the main town, that sell clothes too.
Good luck.

OneMoreLight · 10/08/2020 19:07

Harbour side there is an outdoor type shop, On Baxtergate there is m and co, Boyes and lots of charity shops, behind Baxtergate there is another street which has a poundshop (they have some pep and co stuff inside).

Sainsbury's is out of town.

On the old side of the bridge there was another outdoor shop, some alternative type shops and also some gift/games type shops that last time I was there sold t-shirts.

CaptainCallisto · 10/08/2020 19:20

Sainsbury's is out of town a bit, but has a big clothes section. There's Mountain Warehouse on the west side of the harbour and an M&Co.

On the East side it's mostly hippy/goth type clothing so if that's not his thing I'd stick to the West Side of town.

Hope DS calms down ok - DS1 has ASD so I understand how this sort of thing might throw him over.

frumpety · 10/08/2020 19:27

Poundland does clothes , would he fit in small/medium mens size ? They do shorts, t-shirts, joggers etc ? They are on Flowergate which is pretty central Smile

TheGreatWave · 10/08/2020 19:31

Oh bless you, hope you get sorted. As others have suggested there are a few possible shops. Boyes might be best for underwear / socks and then possibly mountain warehouse for clothes. If you come out the upstairs of MW there is a Poundland - they sometimes have pep&co stuff.

CaptainCallisto · 10/08/2020 19:32

I totally forgot they did clothes in Poundland!

I also forgot to mention Boyes and Yorkshire Trading. I'm not doing well am I 😂

And now I've posted twice... 🤦

adulthumanwoman · 10/08/2020 19:50

Oh thank you all so so much
He's calmed down
We're off to Sainsbury and m and co tomorrow :)

Thunderbolted · 10/08/2020 19:59

Hope you get sorted. We did exactly the same and got new clothes for DS from that very Sainsbury. They had a good range, although I was only looking for a 5 year old so can't comment on larger sizes. Luckily, as he's NT, he found it fun rather than stressful.

TheGreatWave · 11/08/2020 19:34

@adulthumanwoman Did you manage to get him sorted?

adulthumanwoman · 11/08/2020 22:55

Thanks so much everyone. Went to M&Co at 9am, got 2 polo shirts, a pair of shorts, 5 socks, 5 pants and all sorted! Then to the bookshop - 3 books and a puzzle book. Boots for toothpaste and toothbrush, flannel and home for 10.30 and bacon butties.
I was in a total panic but we have had an absolutely lovely day. He went to the Abby with his sister and I didn't due to my leg. We all went for dinner with Eat out to help out at the Magpie and DD ate fish for the first time (she is 12) and really enjoyed it! Came home and watched Peanut Butter Falcon on Netflix which was brilliant.
All round as perfect a day as was possible.
Thanks everyone :)
