to ask for a very cheap/ free way to close my Diastasis Recti gap?

Background: I've had 2 babies in the last 3 years. Both large-ish (9lb) & I was one of those comically huge, cartoonishly pregnant women that look like they're wearing a fake bump. Unsurprisingly I had mild Diastasis Recti after DS, but it seemed to go away pretty easily with walking, etc. I was then diagnosed with 'moderate to severe' DS by a Women's Health Physio late last year after having DD. The local NHS Physio department closed down soon after, so I was waiting for an appointment when Covid hit & obviously that's all been put on hold now.

Now: I've managed to lose 1.5 stone during lockdown, but my fucking belly still looks 5 months pregnant & hasn't gotten **any smaller Angry. It's so frustrating. I know it's the DS as I can feel an approx 4 finger gap under my belly button, and slightly smaller ones above & below. I've also have been having back problems due to the lack of core strength.

Problem: I am a SAHP & recently split from my exDP. Money is obviously tight, so I can't afford the CONSTANTLY recommended Mutu program. Can anyone recommend anything that is very cheap, or ideally free (a YouTube video series, etc) that they have had results with? I'm so sick of feeling like shit every bloody time I get dressed Sad

Pilates is good, you can find exercises on YouTube. The key thing is to avoid crunches which push the muscles apart. You should always be pulling the muscles together. I was told I should never do crunches again.

Yes don't do crunches or planks as PP mentions.

If you look on Pinterest there alway seems to be workout recommendations for Dr, little pictorial sheets with the different moves you can do to close the gap. So may be worth looking on there.

Just to add this is one example of a link I copied to my Dr board on Pinterest (and have yet to do anything about as I need to lose the fat first.... Well done on your amazing weight loss)!!!

I have a very large gap, 8cm, and look like I have a mans beer belly. It starts under my breasts.
I saw a surgeon on the NHS three years ago. GP referred me. Surgeon told me that no amount of any exercise would help.
I have left it and am not sure if NHS would still pay for the surgery. Next to ask your GP.

Pilates will definitely help. There are probably some Pilates exercises on YouTube specifically to help DR.

Look up Katrina Oakley on Youtube....she has free programs especially for diastasis recti (some are paid for), I must admit, I haven't actually done any of the programs yet Blush but they do look good and supportive. Also she has a Facebook page and there is a DR group where lots of women follow the programs and are successful.

Thank you everyone! I get a bit overwhelmed by Google/Youtube searching, there are SO many different videos, etc, that it's hard to know which ones actually work Confused I was obviously very naively hoping someone would show up here & say "Of course, here's a link for a free video that transformed me from Homer Sinpson into 90s Britney Spears in just 3 weeks!" Grin

Thanks @44PumpLane
...I'm pretty sure I'm going to pile it all back on during this 'Eat Out to Help Out' Scheme Cake

@ShortyShortLegs thanks so much! I've just joined a few FB groups, I including the Katrina Oakley one 👍
