I've used Exante and they're fine, although I don't actually have the shakes - I like the bars more. Some of them are really nice and I'd eat them even when not trying to lose weight. You just need to keep in mind that they are a means to an end, and don't expect gourmet food tastes and textures. If you follow the plans, you will lose weight, but it's not easy and can have some unpleasant side-effects.

I'm currently using New You Plan, they have a lot of various "meals", I can only have the shakes due to intolerances BUT they also do crisps so that sold me Grin

I used Diet Now replacement shakes for breakfast and this, combined with healthy eating and exercise helped me to lose a stone in about 5 weeks. The shakes taste really good and there are usually some kind of introductory offer available.

FilthyforFirth · 09/08/2020 18:13

I lost 2.5 stone on exante and plan to go back to it once I have had this baby. It is quite good as 3 weeks on meal replacements, not just shakes, but bars, dinners etc, and then the 4th week you introduce food so you get used to it. I would recommend, I think the NHS uses it.

CraftyGin · 09/08/2020 18:13

I have used the Exante shakes with success.

Wow! Wasn’t expecting so many replies. Thank you all! I’ve just ordered “the protein works” I think it was shown on this morning. Anyone used it?

@FilthyforFirth amazing loss of 2.5 stones well done! How does it work? 3 shakes and no food?

Hmmm. I typed a follow-up, but it hasn't posted....

Be careful with expectations on a vlcd. They are often aimed at people like me with quite a lot to lose. If you lose 10lbs in 2 weeks, you'll probably put the first weeks loss straight back on when you eat normal food again, as it's water weight, not fat.

Im doing exante now. Started in May at 17st 3 and I'm 13st9 as of today. So a few stone to go but it definitely works. Im quietly confident I will maintain as I cannot face doing a diet like this again. But I will say that the main thing that has kept me going has been the fear of catching covid and the possible impact my weight would have. I don't know how great my willpower would have been without that kick up the arse.

Good luck x

bagelbaby · 09/08/2020 18:24

Check the sugar content of them. Some have surprisingly large amounts

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 09/08/2020 18:24

Also seeing you want to lose 7-10lb. You would probably do that in 1/2 weeks on exante in my experience

FilthyforFirth · 09/08/2020 18:25

Well I had 5 to lose so was only half way there before falling pregnant! Will probably have to start all over again in the new year, sigh.

But yes, total meal replacement so very low calorie, I think it us 600 calories, each 'meal' is 200. I had a shake for breakfast, a bar for lunch (dont taste amazing but chocolate etc flavours) and then a meal, usually sweet and sour noodles or soup for dinner. You have to drink a shitload of water 4-5 litres a day.

I rarely got to 5 and would often snack on a babybel on the days I was super hungry, but I was surprised how well I was able to stick to it. I lost the weight between April-Nov. Put a bit back on over christmas and then the wheels fell off when my mega holiday was cancelled in March...

But in general I liked it and believed I would get all 5 stone off if I stuck to it.

Good luck!

I used Cambridge, slim fast and lighter life

Cambridge was probably the best tasting but coat the most too x
