Kicking myself!!! Universal credit.

I'm a lone parent to a toddler. Get sod all from his dad (£5 a week) and have been struggling to pay childcare costs and just to live basically. I was claiming universal credit, and they stopped my payments because they said I earned too much. That was the end of that.

I had no idea until I saw it mentioned on MN that you should always do another claim if this happens.

I've just done this and am receiving £270 of UC this month.

Slowly realising that I've lost out on hundreds and could have lived so much more comfortably over the last year or so.

Can anyone help me feel slightly better about this?

Ouch - but you do have it now and going forward. Flowers
Hope it makes life easier

Can you get some advice from CAB?

You've just got to let it go. I was wrongly turned down for PIP and lost out on around £10k (was awarded it months later when I was slightly better).

You've learned you are resilient, thrify, resourceful and can pull yourself out of the shit and still make the best if it.

Well you’ve proved that you can go without that extra money so you must be great at budgeting and gives you more options as you can save some of this money.
