To think I’m doing kegel balls wrong..

Posting here for traffic as had no luck in women’s health.

I’ve had some urinal leakage the last few months when sneezing and sometimes when I can’t make it to the loo.
Only DC is 16 so no recent birth and I’m 42, very possibly perimenopausal.

Decided to try kegel balls in the first instance and on reading the instructions it says you can leave them in for up to 6 hours but remove them to pee.

Anyway I used them for the first time yesterday, inserted and got on with the housework. Sorry if this bit is TMI.. but when I sat on the loo and went to remove them, there was an instantaneous gush of pee with no warning at all as I was removing them. Not just after removing.. during and after. I had no control over this and I didn’t actually realise I needed to go that badly.

Did I keep it in too long? Wear too high? Or did they act as a cork holding up my bladder contents somehow?! It was alarming and happened both times I removed them yesterday. Is my pelvic floor completely shot?..
