I don't continue to read through a seemingly juicy thread if I select 'filter by OP' and see only 1 or 2 posts.

Am I alone (ie, AIBU)?

Not alone!

Nickelallergy891 · 07/08/2020 20:52

Was just thinking this today! I'm sure I miss out on a lot of good stuff but I'm getting lazy!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 07/08/2020 20:59

I read most posts, or skim read - but when something had hundreds of replies, it can get a bit tedious.
It's also useful to tell when the OP has set up something quite outrageous, never to return or be seen again.

mynameiscalypso · 07/08/2020 21:00

Not alone at all, I've done that multiple times today especially when an OP is ignoring most of the comments/questions

EinsteinaGogo · 07/08/2020 21:42

Glad I'm not on my own 😀

Yes, if something sounds rather inflammatory, and/or shocking, and there are tonnes of replies from others yet only 1 or 2 from the OP, I now don't tend to bother.

It's great for weeding out the ploppers.

ChicCroissant · 07/08/2020 21:48

If it doesn't say 'see next' on the first post I know that there has been no response yet either (not that I expect posters to update every 5 minutes, people have lives and jobs to get on with!)

MsVestibule · 07/08/2020 21:50

I do exactly the same thing! What's the point of reading a thread already has 200 posts but the OP's only posted once or twice?

1Morewineplease · 07/08/2020 21:54

I’ve only recently been able to do this. It saves massively on reading bigoted posts by people who haven’t really understood the OP’s concern.

imissthesouth · 07/08/2020 21:59

YANBU, if the OP only puts the original post on etc I normally stop reading, the exception being something I also agree with

Fairenuff · 07/08/2020 23:17

@ChicCroissant

Yes but why start a thread if you don't have the time to respond on it.
EinsteinaGogo · 08/08/2020 09:13

Glad I'm not the only one.

In many cases, it's the OPs responses that make the most sense of the post / make it worth reading.

If I click on something with 200+ replies and see only 1/2 OP posts , I give it a swerve.
