Does anyone else have one? I'm sick to death of hearing about all her illnesses and how me and the kids have made her ill when we visited shortly the other day. Now she's blaming it on me because I went to the hairdressers and thinks I got Coronavirus of the hairdresser WHO DOESNT HAVE CORONAVIRUS.

I have lost it this morning and said I'm taking you up the hospital and leaving you there because I'm sick of it!!

Best to say no more visits from you and the children for the moment.

Is she normally anxious or is this corona provoked?

misshangry · 07/08/2020 10:18

Normally anxious even worse now corona she has just rang me saying she doesn't need to go to the hospital now and I'm outside her house.

OH is getting angry with it all as I'm always picking her up and taking her doctors and chemists and her ringing me at 2 in the morning. I don't know what to do anymore

Has she spoken to her doctor about her anxiety? My MIL is very anxious and depressed since the virus.

sitckmansladylove · 07/08/2020 10:42

Don't get involved in the drama. Just lower contact for while attention feeds into it

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 07/08/2020 10:42

Provide her with a few taxis numbers... Yanbu to spell out she is now damaging your mh and causing you issues at home..
A jolt is maybe what she needs.

You don't go to hospital with Covid anyway? If she has symptoms she needs to book a test.

My mum went through a phase of similar. I dealt with it by being very rational and unemotional about it, just gave her reasonable next steps each time.

'I have Covid and I can't breathe' - phone an ambulance.
'It's not bad enough for an ambulance' - well, make sure you order a test
'I need you to take me' - no, it's either bad enough for 999/111 or not, I am not a medical professional or a taxi service.

And yes, no more visits as you've obviously put her at risk.

Your poor mum has health anxiety and you are treating her like shit!
