Exactly that. I look on here an people have hundreds of responses and when I post I barely get any!

OP posts:
Lockdownseperation · 07/08/2020 08:38

Asking a question rather than a statement engages people in conversation. What are your threads about?

RobotRepair · 07/08/2020 08:40

Same here. Either no replies or very few. I seem to have an uncanny knack of killing threads too for some reason so I wouldn’t expect any more replies after this one .

I feel like the invisible woman on here.

Ponoka7 · 07/08/2020 08:41

I think it can be a matter of luck, whose about when you post.

difficulttod · 07/08/2020 08:41

Same here. Every son often (like now) I start posting on threads. Then I give up and go back to lurking.

HolyForkinShirt · 07/08/2020 08:42

@RobotRepair

I see you robot! You haven't killed this one 😂

Dogsgowoofwoof · 07/08/2020 08:42

Also it’s surely depends on the subject of the thread. Some only need a few responses, some can just keep going.

justanotherneighinparadise · 07/08/2020 08:42

People love a bunfight so those tend to be the ones with hundreds of replies.

MrsOrMiss · 07/08/2020 08:42

Start a thread about;

Dogs on a beach
Children in pubs
Car parking
Evil Mother in laws
Landlords
Cheeky F**ker incidents

You'll have loads of replies Smile

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 07/08/2020 08:43

Sometimes it's about being lucky in asking a question when there happens to be a lot of people online who know the answer.
Or if it's a very specific question and the first poster gives a really good response, sometimes people think they have nothing further to add which would help you more.

NiteWotcha · 07/08/2020 08:43

you've only posted one other thread this year, OP
maybe target a specific board - so post your question about feeding your baby on the infant feeding board, or the weaning board?

sunnysidegold · 07/08/2020 08:43

I'm not really one for starting threads but I think I can be a bit of a thread killer so sorry if it happens to you!!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/08/2020 08:44

I've never had loads of replays to the few threads I've created. They are usually helpful all the same. It's usually the controversial topics that attract a lot of attention, and I don't start threads like that.

ChangeThePassword · 07/08/2020 08:44

I can only find one previous post in that username, at 10.45 last night in chat looking for advice on cows milk or formula.

It has no replies, but it was posted late at night, and I'm sure there are more appropriate places to post that question.

Maybe try bumping it at a busier time of day so more people can see it, or posting in one of the topics more suited to that question?

Mrsjayy · 07/08/2020 08:45

You have to start any thread in AIBU if you want a response . Or have a catchy/long title

MrsOrMiss · 07/08/2020 08:46

Forgot to mention, keep or not keep the spelling or grammar correct - I'm expecting comments about my mistakes on my previous post. Wink

daisypond · 07/08/2020 08:46

Where did you post? Some boards get less traffic than others. What time did you post? The middle of the night UK time will be more difficult.

Crystal87 · 07/08/2020 08:48

Same here, I don't start threads anymore and I post a lot less overall.

maybemu · 07/08/2020 08:49

Where you post and what you post about make a massive difference to how many replies you get. It's not personal

Somethingsnappy · 07/08/2020 08:49

Post your question here again, OP! We're all ears now and perhaps someone can help!

MouthBreathingRage · 07/08/2020 08:50

The only way to get attention on here is to start a thread about a minor 'cheeky fucker' situation and exaggerate the hell out of it, to the point where most of it is a blatant lie.

Veiaola · 07/08/2020 08:52

Thinking the same, I started one yesterday and didn't get one reply.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 07/08/2020 08:52

You've only created one thread in your username and that was last night. It appears to have been deleted by MNHQ. If they have deleted it, there must be a good reason.

BlackberrySky · 07/08/2020 08:52

Think about :

Which board you post on
The topic
How you word the title
Time of day that you post

Post a badly worded, boring topic in an inappropriate board late at night and you'll get few responses. Post an engaging topic on the appropriate board at the weekend and you should fare better.

ChangeThePassword · 07/08/2020 08:57

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite it hasn't been deleted Confused

Hi OP
I think I’ve noticed people posting more of their own “experiences”
rather than actual replies, help, suggestions.
Sometimes it requires at lot of typing, people prefer the one liners
