to be in a complete blind panic

Just found out I'm pregnant (4 weeks if going from LMP) - I'm sweating. I'm 40, have one beautiful toddler, wasn't planning on another and have an interview for a new role (part time and home based) next week.

I've also had two cocktails tonight and over the last few weeks, since LMP, I've probably had a drink about half the time. So with age not on my side and having had a horrible pregnancy before, am I right to be having a meltdown right now? I'm completely sure I've damaged this poor little thing SadSad

Millions of women drink alcohol, some proper binging, before they realise they are pregnant. It will be fine if you switch to mocktails now. Congratulations?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/08/2020 21:53

Loads of mums drink before they know they are pregnant and their baby is fine.

Take a deep breath (or several) and stop. No two pregnancies are the same so bad earlier pregnancy doesn’t mean this one will be the same.

Go for the job interview and decide what to do if you get it.

I don't think alcohol will have much impact this early. You've only been pregnant about two weeks if your LMP was 4 weeks ago so the baby is a few mm if that and will be 'fed' from the yolk sac rather than the placenta.

The baby will be fine. The amount I drank with all my pregnancies before I realised (especially my first) was shocking and they were perfectly healthy. Well baby number 3 hasn't arrived yet but all looking good.
As for the rest; do you want to carry on with the pregnancy?

Why did you have 2 cocktails tonight if you thought you could be pregnant?

bornninthe80s · 06/08/2020 22:09

Had two cocktails my husband made - honestly didn't think I could be but had a freak out and did a test and there you go Sad

I'm in a similar boat but was deliberately ttc! I'm 42 and recently left my toxic workplace. I'm 5 weeks pregnant and applying for new jobs. I had horrible sickness when I was pregnant with dd, do I'm dreading that kicking in when I'm starting a new job.
