boobot1 · 06/08/2020 19:04

My son is nearly 5 has autism and would not be safe in a car seat with a seat belt. Does anyone know if there is anything 5 point and isofix on the market for group 2 and 3? If so what are they? Thank youGrin

Google is not the enemy.

Depending on how heavy he is (most will only 5 point harness to 25kg) there's the joie bold or cozy n safe excalibur

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 06/08/2020 19:10

25kg is the highest harness weight I could find, and like pp said your options for that are pretty much the Joie bold or the cosy n safe exscalliber. Hope you find something suitable Smile

I believe the In Car Safety Centre do some car seats for children with additional needs that harness over the normal 25kg, don’t think there are any “high street” seats that do.

IndecentFeminist · 06/08/2020 19:22

Britax two way elite harnesses up to 25kg. Very much depends how big your child is, my 8 year old is skinny and has only just passed 25kg now.

IndecentFeminist · 06/08/2020 19:23

Isofix only goes up to 18kg from memory, past that needs to be belted as well.

Spikeyball · 06/08/2020 19:28

There are crelling harnesses used with a standard car seat and seat belt. There are a few different types depending on support needs and level of escape artist.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 06/08/2020 19:31

DD(6) has a Britax Traveller Plus, which has a 5-point harness and goes up to 35kg. We got it from the In Car Safety Centre - it’s expensive but we got a grant from the Newlife charity that covered a lot of the cost.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 06/08/2020 19:32

Oh, and none of the seats uses Isofix in that weight/age group.

Ginger1982 · 06/08/2020 19:39

I have a Joie bold, 5 point harness up to 25kgs and is isofix. Really like it.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/08/2020 19:42

We have the Joie Bold and it does use Isofix but also the belt and a top tether. I love it because it does five point harness to 25kg.

I think in car safety centre in Milton keynes specialise in special needs seats. They may be able to rwcimmend something

We've had a couple of seats from there (the two way elites), they have great service.

Would this one work?

boobot1 · 07/08/2020 07:59

Thanks, I have opted for cosy n safe excalibur. Will give a few more years hopefully.

The excalibur is 5 point harness till 25kg.

If you still need the harness after that the britax traveller goes to 36kg, you can buy it at the in car safety centre 👍

boobot1 · 07/08/2020 08:32

ThanksSmile
