You know when you read an OP and there are pages of replies?

Go the bottom left of the OP box and you'll see this;
OP’s posts: See next | See all

Click on see all, and you'll find out what's happened since the OP first posted. That will save you giving the same advice that 200 people have already given, that the OP has already taken, and which has long since superseded by further events. Then you won't look so stupid. You can thank me later.

If we all just use the “see all” feature to read OP’s posts, without giving same advice others have given, the thread probably isn’t going to be very long as there will be hardly any replies and little advice for the OP to comment on!

Apologies if this has already been said, but I just used the “see all” feature so don’t know what responses the OP has had.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 06/08/2020 11:17

@BigBadVoodooHat

If only some people took the time to read some of the replies though...

Or to look at the date ~ people are still giving advice on the bloody carpet thread from 2012! Grin

Omfg, I read that just yesterday - didn't post though, thank fuck - totally missed that it was from 2012Grin. Hilarious.
JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 06/08/2020 11:28

The vast majority of the people this "educational" (read: patronising) post is aimed at wont read this.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 06/08/2020 11:30

Oh, I love the carpet thread. Every time it comes back on active it makes me smile.

LillianBland · 06/08/2020 11:32

TLDR. Has OP been back yet?

😁

youngestisapsycho · 06/08/2020 11:32

If a thread has more than 100 replies I don't usually bother opening it!

Motoko · 06/08/2020 11:34

It really is annoying, especially when the situation has been resolved days before, yet you still get posters writing long winded replies, telling the OP what she should do.
Like the recent thread where the OP has a bit of land with a glamping set up, and a so called "friend" asked to use it for her 40th birthday, but told OP she wasn't invited after OP had said yes.
Early posters mentioned the insurance side of things, OP checked and saw she wouldn't be covered, so told "friend" she couldn't let her use it. All sorted, yet people are still posting with detailed email examples of what she can say to the "friend" to get out of it.

Such a waste of their time.

If you challenge these people, they say they haven't the time to wade through the whole thread, yet they have time to consider and type out a lengthy response!

Karatema · 06/08/2020 11:35

@bestbefore

You get a little funnel icon at the top on the app
Thanks for this it's a fantastic tip. I won't have to plough through too many replies ever again Smile
CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2020 11:40

It's quite easy to look at a thread and think 'Hmmm, 50 pages' then skip to the end to see how things have developed before commenting.

sruitfalad · 06/08/2020 11:40

Not sure about the website but on the app, it's only a feature for premium members.

But you will know if the OP has already LTB, reported it to the Police, decided not to go or whatever.
Cattenberg · 06/08/2020 11:55

I really like this feature too. It’s so boring when people keep asking questions that were answered five pages ago.

Weirdly, some posters love to put two and two together and come up with 55. If they can then give the OP a good scolding over an event that only happened in their own confused pea-brains, so much the better.

These are the people who most need to read the OP’s updates, but I don’t think they will, somehow.

SpinningTheMoon · 06/08/2020 11:58

On the iOS app you can filter by the OP without being a premium subscriber, but not other posters (that does need a subscription). Not sure about the android app though.

F

Why F??? Just press "watch" !

planningaheadtoday · 06/08/2020 12:05

Most things don't translate on the app. I only using iPhone so I'm limited to what the app can provide.

Nanny0gg · 06/08/2020 12:12

@nocoolnamesleft

I'm on the app on an iPhone and it isn't there...
Do you have the three little dots? It's there...
Nanny0gg · 06/08/2020 12:16

I feel sorry for the Techs.

They've been asked over and over for this feature (@MNHQ couldn't you put a Sticky up on every thread, explaining it?) and the buggers are still ignoring it!

thebirthlyhallows · 06/08/2020 12:20

Cancel the cheque!

DianasLasso · 06/08/2020 12:23

@thebirthlyhallows

Cancel the cheque!
I was about to say that.

I shall content myself (having deliberately availed myself with the little button) by annoying OP by saying disingenuously "isn't it only for premium members?" Wink

But yeah, it can be really annoying OP.

Specially on relationships threads where some muppet pops up to say "well, from your OP, he doesn't sound so bad - have you tried couples' counselling" when there's 500 messages, in the course of which OP divulges significant abuse, and by the time the muppet posts, they've already left and gone to a refuge.

BlastEndedSkrewt · 06/08/2020 12:33

@ saraclara - thank you, I was clicking see all in the top of the message not at the bottom

eurochick · 06/08/2020 13:23

It's here on my iPhone app - top right, highlighted (badly) in yellow.

The only thing worse than people who can’t be arsed to RTFT is people who post threads that have already been done numerous times.Wink

@SpinningTheMoon

This is what I get- I use an iPhone.

SpinningTheMoon · 06/08/2020 14:46

I'm using an iPhone too, and I only get that message when I click on one of the other posters names from a thread. The OP's name is at the top of that list, and you should be able to filter on them.

I've only noticed the funnel at the top though due to this thread! I'd been using the funnel option you get when you swiped right on the post instead - for both routes though only the OP filtering is free 😊

saraclara · 06/08/2020 16:51

@sruitfalad I think you're clicking to sort by another posters posts. The 'free' filtering only works for the OP's posts.
