Blatantly based on the other thread Grin

When I was 12, I won a vinyl record of Bill Cosby’s greatest hits at a raffle.

We didn’t own a record player, and I wasn’t a Cosby fan.

I asked the lady running the raffle if I could swap it for another prize but she gave me a very firm “no”. I’m still bitter.

A bottle of liebeframilch which had obviously done the rounds and/or had been sat in the back of a cupboard. We opened it but didn't drink as it was inedible.

Baby Powder, a corked bottle of wine and an out of date bottle of Bailey!

ChicCroissant · 05/08/2020 17:11

I received a phone call months after the raffle was drawn to say I'd won two prizes, some toiletries and a box of chocolate biscuits. I went (the same day as the phone call) to collect them and the biscuits could not be found eaten IMO

Why they didn't check they had the prize before calling or why they'd waited so long in the first place is a mystery.

At a folk club. An LP by the Singing Postman.

I won a picture that had been donated by the local Chinese takeaway. It was really really ugly and totally caked in grease. It was like they had taken it off the kitchen wall when pressed to donate something!

A live turkey at xmas. I was a vegetarian and parents got to go and pick one for xmas dinner.

Spied · 05/08/2020 17:21

Last year I won a body shop gift set.
It was so old it was of the age of the green labels ( back in the early 90s) and the stench was out of this world.
I also once won a huge chunky necklace in a raffle with the 1.99 sticker attached and a broken clasp.

My dad won a giant toy white tiger at the brownies christmas fair - it was a name-the-tiger competition and I think he gave it some russian politician's name which the judge obviously found hilarious!
My mum made him give it to the little girl who came second!

Elouera · 05/08/2020 17:25

A school tombola and won a bottle of white wine which had obvioulsy been at the back of someones cupboard for years, then in the hot sun ALL day!!!

My old, cheap company used to attend celebrity/wealthy medical events where they'd have expensive prizes like holidays/antiques/champagne etc. My company would add a 'prize' of an 'apprenticeship' at their company. This would amount to the person being given a cupboard full of shredding to do for a month!

I once won an Emmerdale Farm notebook, pen, fridge magnet and tea towel set.

Gingerkittykat · 05/08/2020 17:28

A lime green polo shirt in adult small size, not that I would have worn it if it had fitted me.

PracticalMagic111 · 05/08/2020 17:30

I once won a huge wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. I was 8 at the time and thought it was the best thing ever

SabrinaThwaite · 05/08/2020 17:31

I won battery operated tin opener that got regifted for every raffle. It became quite a fixture.

But usually I’m quite lucky, so mustn’t grumble.

Rayn · 05/08/2020 17:38

When I owned my own business I won a voucher for the rival company in town!

Beautiful3 · 05/08/2020 17:41

Lavender cubes bath salts. My vagina literally itched with the anticipation of thrush, when I received it. After my twinge, I regifted them back

arapunzel · 05/08/2020 17:48

I won a mooncup in a work raffle.

I’d been TTC for 2 years by that point

iklboo · 05/08/2020 17:49

Did Bill Cosby have many hits?!

We usually do pretty well in raffles & tombolas but DH won a hand cream set at a summer fair in 2018. The product was discontinued in 2009. It was all separated and sludgy.

JunoJigglewick · 05/08/2020 17:49

5 litre can of Castrol GTX. I was 7 and wanted the teddy bear. Raffle man refused to exchange.

iklboo · 05/08/2020 17:50

Xmas fair haul. For £5 worth of tickets.

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/08/2020 17:54

A food hamper from DS school raffle. Someone had obviously spent time putting it together from donations to the school but nearly every item of food -tins and packets included - were significantly past their use by date.

QueenofLouisiana · 05/08/2020 17:55

A 5 pack of cups of Bovril drink (just add hot water). I’m vegetarian and make a conscious effort to avoid single use plastic items.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/08/2020 17:59

Box of comedy false noses.

SarahBellam · 05/08/2020 18:00

A crystal ashtray on a golden stand. I was 11.

Londonmummy66 · 05/08/2020 18:01

A box set of all 3 Fifty Shades of Grey novels - I think it was meant to be a joke....

Sunbird24 · 05/08/2020 18:05

An A3 psychedelic holographic picture. It lived in my car for a few months until next time I hired a skip.
