Neighbour issue driving me crazy

I did post this before but had no replies 😂

I live on a quiet street and I am housing association. I don’t really know my neighbours very well, the people who lived in my house before seemed popular in the street, but they were evicted and since I moved in none of the neighbours have been very friendly to me, since I refused to keep handing over post and parcels for the previous occupier over a year down the line (as advised by housing officer and I explained this to the neighbours). Ie they would order things to my address then ask neighbours to come knock and collect it.

3 doors down from me is a family I do not know. They have a child who looks to be 13 or so. He is outside throwing bang snaps in their garden (little fire crackers) for HOURS AND HOURS. Every single day into the evening.

This is driving my dog insane. We cannot have the door to the garden open because my dog barks at the snaps. I think they are aware of the dog barking because the dog does not bark until the snap happens. I go out and call the dog in whenever he barks. Then I end up shutting him indoors even on a hot day.

I contacted environmental health to say that I was really worried about a complaint about my dog, but that my dog was barking at the noise and they have noted it.

I admit I am too afraid to knock on their door because the man is huge and I am a single mother and I am worried he might get aggressive. I wouldn’t put something like this on social media either. I don’t know if they own their house or if it is HA.

What should I do? Is this normal ‘child playing outside’ noise?

Whilst I’m sure it’s a nuisance, I don’t think there is much you can do if he is in his garden and it’s during normal daylight hours. Does he do it for hours at a time?
