Put here for traffic.
Elderly mum had a fall. Hospital and rehab.
Home since Saturday. V disoriented, not at all herself. Saying she would get out of bed but then couldn't. Carer and I both tried.
Have called GP who is supposed to call back but still waiting.
Advice please?

Call 111 - could be a UTI

TheIckabog · 05/08/2020 10:43

Could you try 111 first and see what they advise?

Lightsabre · 05/08/2020 10:43

I would wait for the GP to call but keep a close eye on her. Does she have a temperature? Any redness, heat or swelling in her legs? Any rash?

Itsjustabitofbanter · 05/08/2020 10:43

I’d dial 111 for advice. I’m not sure if it’s a 999 emergency

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/08/2020 11:03

District nurse rang 999 after my father had a fall. Ambulance took 8.5 hours to arrive. You might as well wait for GP.

OrigamiOwl · 05/08/2020 11:14

I'd suggest 111 to start with.

  1. Could be a stroke, could be sepsis. Better safe than sorry.
Fatherbrownsbicycle · 05/08/2020 11:20

The GP will probably call back after morning appointments. Could you get a urine sample so that if they ask for one you could pop one in to the surgery?
It isn’t a 999 issue but I do understand your concern.

Dial 111, they will go through questions and call an ambulance if needed.

Had to do this recently and an ambulance was called

Jargo · 05/08/2020 11:28

No one should be telling you a woman who cannot get herself out of bed suddenly (with help) and is very disorientated is not a 999 issue.

Pobblebonk · 05/08/2020 11:35

Can she move all her limbs? Does she have any numbness? Does she complain of dizziness?

mineofuselessinformation · 05/08/2020 13:01

Sorry I upped and left - the GP called back, who advised to call 999.
Ambulance has been and gone, after adjusting medication.
Thanks all. Thanks
(And Winefor me tonight I think!)
