Is anyone else worried/wondering how hard it will be to get children seen by a doctor when they inevitable coughs etc return? I have one child who suffers with asthma, croup & without fail ends up needed antiobiotics and or nebuliser perhaps multiple times during the winter! Really stressed about how to get him seen when his symptoms are like covid (cough, temperature etc) Given it’s not a pleasant test, would he need to tested each time to exclude covid ??

Please don’t stress. The Drs and nurse practitioners are doing telephone/video consultations and are still bringing people in to the surgery to be seen if necessary. They are still prescribing antibiotics so your child won’t be going without treatment.

Why don’t you book a telephone consultation now? You can discuss your concerns and the possibility of a rescue pack-a prescription that you have so it can be filled as soon as your child gets ill- and they can put your mind at rest. The situation is changing constantly and more and more people are being seen face to face.
