Aibu, starting a job in the NHS during early pregnancy

Applied to a job in an NHS hospital about 6 weeks ago, patient facing but unskilled. Got the job and scheduled to start in two weeks. Its part-time, 2 days a week and its only a 6 month contract.

Saturday got my BFP, roughly 5 weeks along.

Feeling really unsure and anxious about starting the job now I am pregnant. My main fear is catching covid and becoming seriously ill/dying due to weakened immune system. I also have a little boy.

We could do with the money, but we will muddle on without it. I know jobs are very hard to come by at the moment however.

Aibu? what would you do?

Hi Op, has your employer carried out a risk assessment with you yet? At my trust, we've risk assessed all staff and put action plans in place for anyone who needs one, which includes redeploying people from high risk areas. Have you told your manager you're pregnant? I know you don't have to legally, but given the situation then I would let them know ASAP and ask for a risk assessment. Your HR team will be able to support you if your manager isn't able to.

No I've not mentioned anything yet, as I am in two minds about whether to take the job or not. It's good to hear there are risk assessments in place tho, perhaps if I decide to go ahead I will first approach the manager and see what they suggest.
