Does this require a tetanus jab?

Posting for traffic sorry.

Last night around 9pm I stood on a rusty nail which went through my shoe and pierced my foot. It bled a little but wasn't very deep. It's a bit sore today but not terribly.

Pharmacist said I should ring 111 as I'd probably need a tetanus jab. 111 said a clinician would ring me back to discuss home management but I was asleep when they did, 3:30am.

I'm 250 miles from home and travelling back today and unsure whether it needs further investigation. I don't want to waste A&E's time and my doctor doesn't do same day appointments.

I've cleaned the puncture hole, bathed it in salt water and used antiseptic cream.

Couldn't tell you whether I'm up to date with tetanus vaccine..

Thanks all looks like I'll have the jab this evening.

I'm glad I posted as I was half considering just managing the area myself with washing and creams.

The jab will be tetanus/diptheria and polio...it comes in a three, there are no single jabs for tetanus.

The receptionist has just called me back from my GP surgery and said I don't need the injection as I had one in December 2018.

I have no memory of it but I was pregnant at that time so I presume their info is correct and I had it during pregnancy for some reason.

If you had the whooping cough jab, then you have had the tetanus too - as what you are given is the DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus)

I did have the whooping cough jab yes, ah that's brilliant then. I should've known
