so that I can keep on top of the laundry?

Having collected, washed, hung up, brought in and sorted 3 full loads today AIBU to wish that we just didn’t wear so many clothes?

YANBU. Washing baskets are a load of old bollocks. Shitey football kits dry almost immediately and never need to be ironed - pro tip from a lazy arse.

Burn all the clothes.

steff13 · 03/08/2020 18:22

I tried to institute "Naked Thursday" in my house for just this reason, but it did not go over well.

sleepyhead · 03/08/2020 18:22

YANB at all unreasonable.

Mine say they'll get cold but I say it's a small price to pay for even one blessed day of empty laundry baskets.

Also, how can it be that in this household of 4 only about 5% of the laundry is my stuff?

dementedma · 03/08/2020 18:24

Easier solution: lower your standards, rewear and wash less. Seriously. Bet you coukd halve the amount you do.

Devlesko · 03/08/2020 18:24

YANBU, but are any of them old enough to put a load on themselves.
I found delegation was my best friend. Grin

daisychain1620 · 03/08/2020 18:27

I keep saying this to my lot too😂 no one else thinks it's a great idea. Even if we all have up socks what a wonderful world it would be

UncleShady · 03/08/2020 18:27

I would settle for them realising that it is more painful for them to witness me realising I've just washed 5 pairs of trousers not because they were dirty but because they couldn't be arsed to put them back on a coat hanger, than to simply put them back on the cost hanger and thus cutting out my screaming blue murder input.

MitziK · 03/08/2020 18:28

YABU. Because then you have to consider whether you really want to be cleaning the sofa of bumsweat and the almost constant farting that will be permeating the cushions.

ArriettyJones · 03/08/2020 18:29

Compromise. Fill a huge inflatable pool. Make everyone live in bathers for the whole of August. If it rains, say it’s a staycation monsoon.

winterisstillcoming · 03/08/2020 18:29

Maybe they can wear their pants?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 03/08/2020 18:30

Leave them all to do their own washing?
They'd probably create a lot less.

Ijumpedtheshark · 03/08/2020 18:34

I’m lucky, my DS loves being naked!

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 03/08/2020 18:39

Sorry, this made me laugh! 😂🤣😂🤣😆
Expected something completely different 😆😆

Didiplanthis · 03/08/2020 18:39

My ds is mostly naked. Unless I get the paddling pool out. When he dresses to get in...

RowboatsinDisguise · 03/08/2020 18:41

YANBU. It is the approach I take with my toddler. Is it warm, are we going anywhere? If the answers are yes and no we pop on a sun suit (if in the garden for long stretches) or leave him naked.

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 03/08/2020 18:42

You need to lower your standards op... Ds wore his pj's for nearly 3 days straight last week!!
Blush

Newjez · 03/08/2020 18:46

When our youngest sees us naked he always screams 'Ill go blind' and covers his eyes.

Ylvamoon · 03/08/2020 18:49

The solution to your problem: red sock in the white wash... I love pink!
The brilliant white powder with the dark wash...
Then hand out personal washing baskets with instructions.

brightbluegentian · 03/08/2020 18:56

Thanks, it’s good to know I’m on the right track. Alas the DCs are not quite ready DIY washing (4 and 6) although tbh they have already had the odd lesson on the washing machine! They are of an age to embrace nudism though!

DH does do his fair share but today was my turn... I am just grumpy because I hate housework!

My kids have barely worn any clothes since lockdown. They are naked until we go out and upon returning home, my youngest is usually naked within 1 hour or her first visiti to the toilet, whichever comes first.
We are doing maybe 3 loads of washing a week compared to the usual 6.

Fair share - of nudism or washing?
brightbluegentian · 03/08/2020 20:32

@MitziK Grin both!

My 2 wore their pjs all day.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 03/08/2020 20:37

My 5 year old keeps his pjs on all day, occasionally shedding the bottom half somewhere random in the house. Takes me ages to fill a laundry basket since lockdown!

borisjohnsonsstylist · 03/08/2020 20:41

Owner of a pant wearing 8 year old here. He only gets dressed to leave the house and strips down to his pants on return. He carries a Sherpa blanket everywhere with him in case he gets chilly. I make the effort every morning to dress the toddler but his trousers rarely go back on after the first nappy change of the day.

I'd normally be outraged but he's grown so much during lockdown that really he's doing me a favour as I haven't had to buy him new clothes.
