Bloody hand wash only

Sexnotgender · 03/08/2020 16:00

I treated myself to new underwear. It arrived today and half of it is bloody hand wash only.

Who hand washes underwear?!

I didn’t think to check the washing instructions before I bought it.

I bet men don’t have this issue 😡

I have handwash only stuff. It all goes in the machine. If it dies in there so be it, but I'm not hand washing it.

Coronacurls · 03/08/2020 16:03

I would bung in on a delicates wash in a washing net, but I'm quite gung-ho with laundry.

V true men definitely don't have this problem!

pinkbalconyrailing · 03/08/2020 16:05

I would return it.
clothes that can't go in the washer are atotal waste of time imo.

geekone · 03/08/2020 16:05

It’s just stupid isn’t it. I had a pyjama shorts set that had to me hand washed. No one had washes any of these things. Get one of those little underwear washing Zipper bags and put it in delicates.

Zoomintheroom · 03/08/2020 16:06

Net wash, delicate cycle - it'll be reet.

Zoomintheroom · 03/08/2020 16:06

Net wash bag!

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 03/08/2020 16:10

If you can figure out why it says hand wash only you can probably get round it.
Fancy lacy bits / netting/ underwire - stick in a laundry bag.
Silk etc - cool or hand wash cycle, no spin. And use a bag.

But YANBU - clothes should be practical! We need pockets!

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 03/08/2020 16:11

I’d just put in in the machine. I refuse to hand wash anything. There’s plenty of underwear available for women that is machine wash, more to do with material than men and women.

SimonJT · 03/08/2020 16:11

It will probably be okay on a gentle wash, all of my work clothes are either dry clean or handwash only, they all go in on a silk cycle and come out okay.

Sexnotgender · 03/08/2020 16:18

Seems a laundry bag is required. Off to google!

No underwire, all pants and my vagina doesn’t require an underwire😂

Not even particularly fancy pants, just like lace shorts.

I don't think I've ever handwashed anything Grin

Bung it in a net bag and wash on a delicate cycle at a low temp.

OwlinaTree · 03/08/2020 16:27

They just shove hand wash only on loads of stuff so you don't complain that it's gone out of shape etc after you wash it. It will probably be fine in the machine.

Thisismytimetoshine · 03/08/2020 16:29

Shove it in the machine, it'll be fine.

Staffy1 · 03/08/2020 16:29

At least it's not dry clean only, like some expensive pyjamas someone posted about a few weeks ago. I would just put them in on the easy care or wool cycle, they will probably be fine.

LioneIRichTea · 03/08/2020 16:36

I have hand wash stuff too OP but it all goes in the washing machine on a cool wash. I’ve never had an issue yet.

But then I’m the same with dry clean stuff, it all goes in. If it doesn’t make it then good, I don’t want it anyway, I haven’t got time for high maintenance clothes. I haven’t got time to hand wash stuff or drive it somewhere to get cleaned like it’s my child Blush

Happydaysforever123 · 03/08/2020 16:36

I put them on a delicates wash without the laundry bag, I've not had any problems.

PollyPelargonium52 · 03/08/2020 17:11

I have been washing my bras in a knotted pillow case in the machine on a 20 minute programme at 30 degrees. With no ill effect. Wish I had done it sooner!

GJ14 · 03/08/2020 17:23

I made the same mistake. I’m not hand washing underwear. I put it in the machine - it was fine 🤣
