To think fleece hoodies are the most comfortable clothing item ever?

I've been living in my ugly grey fleece since the start of lockdown. I have lots of nice jumpers but every day I reach for the fleece. It's like a cosy warm hug. I can't stop wearing it. It looks bad. I'm on video conferences daily wearing it. I do brush my hair and do makeup but I cant bring myself to wear a different jumper.

Aibu?

Well yes if you never wash it. It also seems a bit scruffy to wear it for your work video calls but maybe that depends on your work place.

Otherwise obviously wear what you like.

AntsInPenzance · 03/08/2020 09:44

I find fleece to be non-breathable and sweaty. Can't think of anything worse to wear in the middle of summer!

Youngatheart00 · 03/08/2020 09:47

You are obviously in a different part of the country to me as it’s been so hot and humid here for days - i struggle with a vest let along a fleece!

In the autumn / winter tho - sure. The only complaint I have is that they tend to bobble and lose the softness after a wash or two. Same with brushed cotton

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 03/08/2020 09:49

YABU - I hate the feeling of fleece and the fact it makes me too hot. Natural fibres for warmth (and for cooling) for me.

LizzieMacQueen · 03/08/2020 10:35

Do you not get static shocks off of your fleece though? Perhaps I'm unnaturally charged but there'd be a fizz of static around me if I wore fleece all day.

crazytoddler · 03/08/2020 10:44

I do wash it every week 😂

I'm in London, with my loft windows open it's definitely cool enough to wear. I haven't had any static issues either..

It's up to you what you wear. Why would you have to ask this on here?

Durgasarrow · 03/08/2020 12:09

Fleece is delicious. Not in the summer where I live, but still!

recklessruby · 03/08/2020 12:33

I love a fleece, lightweight is perfect for late evening outside but I m in Herts and the temp was 36c on Friday so no I m in summer dresses mostly.
In London how do you stand it lately?

HexyAndIKnowIt · 03/08/2020 12:38

I bought a fleece from a Darkness concert in about 2001. I was a lot bigger then so this fleece is absolutely huge. It's been washed within an inch of its life. I garden in it, I pop it on at night when it goes cold. I'm fairly sure you could fit DH in it alongside me but good lord it's amazing and to part me from it you'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands 😂

ZaraW · 03/08/2020 12:41

The only time I wear a fleece is for camping. Wouldn't wear one otherwise. I have a cashmere sweater which is 20 years old which is so much better.

Londonborncatty · 03/08/2020 12:43

Love fleece but only wear it at home, in private. I have several comfy fleece jumpers, frequently washed but old. However, if you saw me at school pick up, or meeting friends, I don’t think you would know I change straight into my fleece at home 😂 I always look smart for my video work calls and slip my fleece only when I have finished.

This.

I'm in South London and it's far too hot to be wearing what is basically plastic.

emmathedilemma · 03/08/2020 12:45

I would live in fleece hoodies if i could......actually, i practically do since the start of lockdown!

vanillandhoney · 03/08/2020 12:45

I can only wear fleece in the depths of winter - otherwise I get far too hot and sweaty. It doesn't breathe well and I find they smell awful after a couple of days! If you're wearing it daily and only washing it weekly that's a bit grim Blush

I prefer cashmere sweaters or lightweight knit jumpers, or cotton cardigans in the spring/summer months. Though at the moment it's far too warm here for anything other than shorts or dresses.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/08/2020 12:47

I sweat like a beast and fleece is just not my friend.

YANBU to wear what you like.

honeygirlz · 03/08/2020 12:47

YABU because there are lots of super soft fleece and non-fleece tops available. An ugly grey hoodie doesn't look very professional.

Apart from that, I love my fleece hoodie, but it has to be the velvety soft fleece.

Sounds like your work wardrobe is too constrictive.
