I know there may be not so many people listening to Taylor Swift's music, but still, if there are ANY: what do you think about her new album, folklore? it's been out for more than a week and I just got a chance to listen to it. So what do you think, if you've heard it? To me it sounded very calming but I wouldn't mind it having some catchy pop songs as well. What do you think??

I love Taylor but her music has to be listened to in dribs and drabs as it can start to sound a bit samey. I'm yet to hear the other half of the album but so far it's really beautiful, mellow and has a lovely autumnal feel to it.

Love it. Current favourites are Exile, The 1, Invisible String and Betty.

Have listened to it in full about 3 times and my favourites much more than that.

Not really a fan of Mirrorball but that’s the only one I haven’t liked.

I think this style of songs suit her more - she’s at her best when she’s a singer songwriter.

Another issue I have is the love triangle trio of songs, whilst they are good, it makes no sense to me why a woman in her 30’s would write about a high school love drama. I did think maybe it’s for the fans to relate to but then a big chunk of her fans will be late 20’s/early 30’s and older - why not write about an adult relationship and affair?

Lastly, I surprisingly like Cardigan, I always thought she picked the worst songs for her lead singles - ME/Shake it Off, when there is much better on the albums. But Cardigan is alright.

I think there are a few songs that could be cut, it doesn’t need to be 16 songs long and a couple are a bit samey. But overall it is classy, mature and shows off the very reason she became so big in the first place- telling incredibly clever stories through her lyrics. Tracks 2-4 bowled me over and I also loved Betty.

It’s a grower, not an instant hit though, you need to listen 2/3 times through to start appreciating the complexity! Bowled over by some of the lyrics though, Taylor at her best.

I like this album more than Lover. To me it sounds more grownup. I got into listening to her because my 15 yr old GD is a big fan. I managed to buy her ‘the’ cardigan but only because I have a good friend in America . It’s going to cost me a fortune in postage! My DD,DIL and GD went to see Taylor Swift at Wembley and I wish I’d gone too. She puts on a fabulous show and is a nice person, good to her fans and her mum

Exile is gorgeous, Cardigan I love, Illicit Affair is classic Taylor lyrics and Betty is a classic Taylor tune. Also loved Invisible String!

VirginiaWolverine · 03/08/2020 08:42

I really like it, and an a bit obsessed with Betty.

userabcname · 03/08/2020 08:46

I love it so much. I reckon her best to date but it's a real grower so the first couple of listens might not grab you! I love the 1, betty, mad woman and exile. I only really got into her music around the 1989 era but this is my favourite album since that one.

TravellingSpoon · 03/08/2020 08:54

My DS is a massive Taylor Fan, to the exclusion of all else. His favourite album is 1989 but this one comes close. He has severe SN, so we listen to Taylor a lot! We can't listen to anything else in the car.

I love Hoax, Last Great American Dynasty and Betty ( which reveals the name of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's youngest daughter which I think is brilliant).

TravellingSpoon · 03/08/2020 08:55

And I like it more than Lover ( although death by a thousand cuts is a great song).

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/08/2020 08:59

I really like it. It's the first of her albums I've heard but as we have Amazon music unlimited for a couple of months I'm listening to as much music as I want.

megletthesecond · 03/08/2020 09:01

I've only heard bits on the radio but Cardigan has really grown on me.

LockdownQ · 03/08/2020 09:19

Much better than Lover but it's still not Red, her best album by far. I mean that opening with State of Grace?! And All Too Well about Jake G Sad.

I love Last Great American Dynasty, it really builds.

FearlessSwiftie · 03/08/2020 09:31

I absolutely LOVE it! It is so much better than Lover, but I was in love with reputation and Speak Now, while folklore is just not the same... But it is still very good! I love Seven, Mirrorball, Cardigan (the mv is lit), The One, Invisible String and Mad Woman. I'd also wanted to get an official cardigan from her website as it looks very vintage and stylish but I didn't manage to. So I probably will look for something similar in local stores, and also folklore got me so inspired that I even used a custom calendar maker to create a calendar with TayTay's photoshoot for this album. It's kinda hard to see the calendar itself and I gotta work on it for some more time, but who cares? it has Taylor on it!

to ask you how do you feel about Taylor Swift's new album?
Doingitaloneandproud · 03/08/2020 09:35

Love it... exile maybe on repeat a few times, I do enjoy her music and think she's done really well for herself; I saw a documentary of hers and she comes across as a genuinely nice woman Smile

May just have to listen to the album again whilst working Blush

Monstermissy36 · 03/08/2020 09:47

I've not listened to it but I follow a girl on insta called Bonnie Rebecca and she is crazy for this album and has lots of TS content and reviews etc etc may be worth a look 😀

AngeloMysterioso · 03/08/2020 09:57

I love it. Definitely an improvement on Lover. Exile and My Tears Ricochet are just beautiful, I would never have expected a TS/Bon Iver crossover but their voices work together really well.
